What a day! Too tired to post last night.......
Managed to get centre stage at the very front of the Golden Circle to see Stevie ROCK the park. She was awesome, so much energy. Personal highlights - Rhiannon, Fall From Grace,GDW and the closer Edge of Seventeen. Oh yes, and when a roadie brought me Waddy's pick after the set - what a result. A great day spent with some lovely people. Hopefully the crowd rocked enough to make her want to come back .........please! |

Stevie was AMAZING tonight. The crowd was SO into it, and Stevie seemed really happy to be here. The people I was standing behind were complaining about her all afternoon, but afterwards they had all changed their minds, and talking about what an amazing performer she is.
..and Outside the Rain!!

Also, I cried at the end of Rhiannon, and a giant, scary-looking punk dude gave me a tissue.

That set list is great. It comes in with a puncha and out with one and delivers everything in between. The album tour is time for the new tracks, not a massive festival.

The guy that wrote this sounds a miserable ****! There is just no pleasing some people I guess. You have to admire 66-year-old Rod Stewart's vigour. As well as singing in the sweltering heat in front of about 45,000 fans for two hours, he recently became a father for the eighth time. Perhaps he anticipated the cracks about almost having his own football team, because he had a photo of his children in Celtic shirts on the giant screen during his show, including four-month-old Aiden in a romper suit of green and white hoops. Earlier, Stewart generously introduced Stevie Nicks's set, although even with a few Fleetwood Mac classics she struggled to entertain for the full hour. The cheering that greeted Lifted from the reformed Lighthouse Family, however, suggested that perhaps Nineties easy listening hits can be just the job on a hot day. Initially, Stewart and his superior band mirrored his recent recording career by playing rock and soul covers, opening with Love Train. It was slick, but felt more suited to a Vegas performance and the saxophone solos became wearisome. When Stewart explored his own back catalogue, and exposed his chest to the screaming middle-aged fans down the front, there was fun to be had. A duet with Nicks on the synth-heavy Young Turks from 1981 sounded like something from The Killers, while his superbly soulful voice ensured the cover of Tom Waits's Downtown Train was magisterial. Stewart seemed happiest clowning about with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, who played guitar on the singalong of Maggie May. They also teamed up on Stay With Me, and there's potentially a great show featuring these rollicking old Faces tunes. He played it safe for the finale, though, with crowd-pleasing No 1s Sailing and Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? From any other pensioner strutting around in a garish jacket, it would be an absurd question. But Rod Stewart still drives them wild. |

FLEETWOOD Mac favourite Stevie Nicks picked the right day of the festival to grace the stage. Adjusting her shades, Stevie Nicks laughed and admitted: “This is the first concert I’ve done in sunglasses.” And boy did she shine. Opening with Stand Back, the set was peppered with solo and band favourites, as well as Secret Love from her new record, which is out this week. Dreams, Gold Dust Woman and Rhiannon brought out the nostalgia in the mesmerised crowd, while Edge Of Seventeen gave a hint of bootyliciousness as Beyoncé played a field over on Worthy Farm. But it was headliner Rod Stewart who naturally stole the show. All his hits poured out as he gyrated across the stage like a man half his age. Do Ya Think I’m Sexy was answered by roars from middle-aged women seemingly back in their teenage years, while Sailing sent arms shooting in the air for a slow wave back and forth. Stevie returned to duet with Rod on Young Turks, and Ronnie Wood cranked up his guitar for an energetic Maggie May and Stay With Me. A perfect end to day three of HRC. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/vie...ck-Calling-Hyd |
