Thank you, Nancy. I temporarily was getting unreleased 1982-1984 wild-hearted songs confused in my head.

It's the part that's right smack dab in the middle of wake up and well I don't.

Sometimes when I wake up ?????? well I don't think about

Maybe my copy is different?
"Sometimes when I wake up"
(In her heart she goes back)
"Well I don't think about it"
(Back to the City of Hope)

I've been transcribing lyrics for the past 3-4 months for my site. Here's what I have for it...

The Charmed Ones (City Of Hope)

Ooh...ooh...
Ooh...oh...oh...
Ooh...ooh
Ooh...ooh...ah...

There is a legend
Passed down
Through the ages
Down through the crystal....visions
Down through the crystal....clear-water fountain
The charmed ones remain
They are mine
(You remain)

Years don't really matter
It's just a matter of time
Ooh, it's just the quality of
A few precious hours
And the charmed one
No matter how bad it is
Well, I've already lost
One guiding light

Ooh...ah
Mmm...

Sometimes when I wake up
(In her heart she goes back)
Well, I don't think about it
(Back to the City of Hope)
Not a night goes by
That I don't wonder
Where you are

Well I've already lost one guiding light
Yes I've already lost
One guiding light
Nothing...could ever hurt me like this again
And you know
In that very statement
You're giving up
A little bit
Of your child-like convictions

Ooh...

Do do do do...
Do do do
Do do do do
La la la la

Sometimes when I wake up
(In her heart she goes back)
Well, I don't think about it
(Back to the City of Hope)
Not a night goes by
That I don't...

Looking at the lyrics posted here, I see a couple differences from what I've always thought they were. On re-listen, I agree with "child-like nature" (I had originally thought she said "child-like angel"). Learn something new every day!

Here's one I'm still undecided about....
(Where? To the City of Hope...)
I hear: "Where's this City of Hope?" (as in it doesn't really exist; her hopes were crushed)

But I'm just guessing.

Thumbs up Love this song!!

This will always be one of my most favorite songs ever. I so wish we had a completed version of this. I think Stevie's vocals are around 83 or 84 but thats what it sounds like to me. Either way I love this song just like ATBW amoungst others. I so wish they'd(& other songs) be 'offically' released someday. Gems like this (as well as those rare outtake photos) shouldn't be locked up someplace to never be enjoyed. Its a shame really. IMO anyway.

I hear "nature," not "convictions." The phrase "child-like nature" is more...natural/likely. The ohs, ahs, oohs, mmms. do, la...those are vocal inflections, not lyrics. That is one of the big pet peeves I have with the insconsistent presentation of printed lyrics in Stevie's CDs. They are not necessary. (no offense to you). And don't get me started about the overuse of elipses....................................!!!
