I haven't listened yet, although the leak is on my iTunes. I'm obsessing over the new Bon Iver record instead. Sounds like I'm not missing much.

I'm not understanding all of the hate for this album; it's not a great album, but it's not a steaming pile of dung either. Sure, it's a long album and it's loaded up with tons of filler. But guess what? So was her first album. But arguably the singles on her first album are stronger than the singles on this album. I can understand that she was under incredible pressure to deliver a follow-up album ASAP while she was still hot, but there is an air of perfunctory craftsmanship here- there isn't a melody or a sound that hasn't already been used somewhere. Ideally she should have gone into this with the intention of recording two proper albums, but then editing them down into one solid album at the last minute. The singles are okay-to-decent, but the filler is

. Just compare this album with a masterpiece like IYD, and the lack of artistry is painfully apparent. LG's album sounds like an afterthought that was all recorded at once using the same instrumentation and arrangements. By contrast, Stevie's album is epic (I know that word has been abused, but it's so appropriate) and it contains a breadth of sounds and treatments; every song is an intricate, unique entity unto itself.

I'm really enjoying it! "Government Hooker" is pretty awesome and I am LOVING "Schiebe" (I can't make the German letter, haha). Both "Born This Way" and "Edge of Glory" grew on me immensely after their initial release and I'm excited that I'm into so many of the album tracks on a first listen. Gaga manages to take techniques and sounds that I don't ordinarily like in most music and make me really dig them, and she gets a lot of points for that.

And yes, it's $.99 at Amazon for the rest of the day, so go there and get it! Especially since iTunes is NOT offering a complete the album for purchasing the earlier singles.

Update: I am OBSESSED with "You and I". I have listened to it on a loop for the past twenty minutes, I love it so much! It's all arena rock, gritty, belty awesomeness!

Did you get it on Amazon? I bought it this afternoon and only 3 songs have downloaded.

Sucks.

And that German letter has a s sound, and could be replaced with ss. It's not a b. I saw that a lot, not just you. I wanted to say something.

I did get it on Amazon and all of the tracks downloaded no problem for me. Strange!

I know that it has an s sound (I took German in college) but the letter itself most resembles a b in English, so that is what I used to replace it. There is probably a way to get it to how up but I don't know the keyboard shortcut.

I heard that Amazon got overloaded with everyone trying to download it. That may be your problem.

i got it on amazon as well and as of last night only 5 tracks were ready for download but they were all there this morning. i am finally listening to the entire thing and for 99 cents i cant complain. its not as bad as i thought it would be but then again i dont think i would have paid full price for it.

ok after listening to the entire album i like it alot more. i am going to listen to it a few more times today but many of the songs are already growing on me.
