Is there a greater moment in the history of pop culture? Seriously...

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Why She never got the Rock Vocal Grammy she was nominated for is beyond me . She didn't win it, right?

They didn't win any of the Grammy nods they got that year.

Your mood is like a circus wheel Oh Daddy is way better!

I remember being ridiculously excited about seeing The Dance on TV. I had been a FM fan since I was a kid in the late 70s and a crazy chiffon-head during the 80s and early 90s. Until The Dance, the only "current" FM footage I had seen was the inauguration, so I was nervous for Stevie. She looked stunning and I remember being totally blown away by Silver Springs- I had never heard it before (I thought it was a new song until her line at the end about it being a great old song).

For me, this is one of the handful of times during "modern" Stevie performances where she seems to lose herself and I love it. It never gets old watching this- thanks for posting.

In the old Usenet days, I remember seeing that someone had posted an advanced WAV clip of "Silver Springs" in the Fleetwood Mac newsgroup. I remember being completely shocked that they even attempted to do this (my fave FM song at the time) and I was dying to find out how it sounded. So I proceeded to download it via my pokey dial-up modem onto my "capacious" 210mb hard drive, which took three. farging. hours. The three longest hours of my life. While it was downloading, I was fretting about all kinds of things- Did she change the melody? Did she change it to a lower key? Will it be anywhere near the original? Needless to say, all of my fears melted away when I finally played it. I was completely blown away and then some. My first reaction was "Mama's back."

Oh Daddy is a masterpiece of music. Period. There isn't anything else like it in all of rock/pop. It is such a singular performance and it could only be sung so effectively by Christine. More than any song, I think it bears her thumbprint.

Why do so many people despise it? Who the hell knows! My assumption is because it is such an intensely personal song about subjugation. To understand and appreciate this song, people have to recognize those feelings in themselves. If they don't or won't, the song will seem strange.

One thing is sure: Oh Daddy is not filler. It is MILES better than the original version of Silver Springs, which doesn't reach its full potential until The Dance. Stevie might have been angry that it didn't make it on to the record, but the band made the right choice. That song emerged as a prominent part of their shows when it needed, when her voice was ready to sing those lyrics with the depth and wisdom they require. She sounds like a chipmunk in the original version.

I don't mean to start a war here, but I have heard "Oh Daddy" referred to as Christine's most "Stevie like" song...

Hell yes she was! I wish those vocals could translate to studio albums, but for some reason she just sounds better live these days. How Still My Love from Soundstage is a perfect example.

yeah! it was on some fan interview thing from 1998 where they asked her what was her favourite Lindsey and Christine song, and she said Oh Daddy cause its got a "real tibetan vibe" and Stephanie of the BuckinghamNicks record.

LOL yes enough about Oh Daddy, Silver Springs is amazing.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm really hoping her new album will be great. I'm figuring we will get some great vocals outta her because she said she's singing on chords she's never sung in before.

I have a great feeling about the new album, but I remain cautiously optimistic! I know our girl has it in her
