Well anyway, this photo has disillusioned me.
Good. Welcome back.

as for her hands, i agree with michelej-wtf was she thinking, wearing all of those rings? maybe she ate too much sodium the night before, slept with her rings on and now can't get them off

love the red, love the crescent moon. i guess it just strikes me as odd that mama nicks has been seen so much, without make up, lately. i'm not saying "I" care, just that stevie has always been so concerned about the way she looks (never going back on stage until she lost all the weight, etc), so it surprises me.

it also depresses me that she's getting older. i dread "the day"....

on edit: is that a scrunchie?

hmm. Stevie needs some Boniva or something for her ostoperosis. She's shrinking and getting a back hump!

I was thinking back to the last concerts I saw on the last tour. We never really saw her hands. She usually has on black gloves. This is probably why, and why it is such a surprise to some. Of course, I think she looks great. I hope to look that well when I'm her age. I have to remind myself she is in her 60s now.

is that a glimpse of upper arm I see? Man, she hasn't shown those in public for a long time! I think she wore the top in black for one of her Soundstage promo gigs. Anyway, she looks great. I'm liking the sheer fabrics!!

I wonder what's with the things on her arms. They don't look supportive enough to be functional as braces, and even if they were, they aren't atatched to anything to give traction. I wonder if she has a port for IV treatments for her RA, and she doesn't want anyone to see it. Else, maybe she got a bunch of tattoos and doesn't want anyone to see it. Else, maybe varicose veins.
What else could it be..

I think so, too. I like her here.

Stevie's so L.A.!

I'm in the minority here, but I think she looks absolutely great. I don't care for the hands.

Totally agreed! I made a similar comment when the last recent photo was posted. She's aging and there's nothing any of us can do about it other than accept it. And let's face it, we're all getting older. It's a part of life. I think the issues for me are a) sometimes I forget the fact that she is a real person (that eats, sleeps, and ****s) instead of this timeless fairytale persona I've created in my mind and b) I have my own issues with looks and getting older as I was raised in an environment where aging gracefully is not exactly embraced.
On a final note I almost feel bad that us, her most dedicated fans, are critiquing her looks and not always from a positive point of view. Doesn't she get enough of this from the media? I know it's true that she's looking older (as anyone would at 62) and it's fun to note the changes but I just can't deal with "she's looking old and her hands look freaky" type comments. Maybe I'm just in denial...

Yes, I know what you are saying about having issues with getting older. It's one of my biggest fears for some reason, and I'm still quite young. I think she is partly to blame for the creation of the fairytale persona though haha, what with all this talk of gypsies and castles. I think a good majority of us are in denial, however some may be in denial that they are in denial

One more thing - that look in her eyes will never change, nor will her soul. She'll always be my enchanted angel even if she has wrinkles like a prune and she's using a walker. What I see is Stevie's pure essence to the core and it's magical. What's outside is secondary. I guess that means I love her or something .

I personally aim to embrace the day when she zooms past in a wheelchair with her chiffon streamers! Still wearing the boots, obviously..

Tbh, the only place I've ever heard anyone mention that she looks old is here on The Ledge..

I don't think people are giving her grief as much as they are a bit startled by the stark difference between her on/off-stage looks. Of course we all expect and want her to look exactly the same- whether she is singing "Rhiannon" on stage or stopping for allergy pills at Wahlgreens. Nobody is saying Stevie is less of a person for it; if anything, people get concerned for her if there is any sign that she is not well or becoming frail.

That being said... either the hat OR the mock sleeves. But not BOTH. That getup is a bit too biker chick for Mama; it's definitely something one of Jesse James' ho-bags would wear. But I am liking the red top with the asymmetrically dropped waist. It's stylish and flattering without being costume-y.
