http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/29/...end/index.html

The victims' friend, quoted here, seems very intelligent. She annhilates the school/police. I wonder if charges or a suit can be made. I don't fully understand this, but apparently it's not illegal in CA to not inform if you witness a crime, unless the victim is 14 y.o. or younger -- and this minor is 15. I can understand there being a difference in penalty, but how can it NOT be illegal?

This is sickening!! If these people are not prosecuted to the FULLEST extent of the law(no deals), then I am ashamed of the American legal system.

Also, watching, and videotaping this should be a punishable crime. I know, in the state where I live, (Indiana), you can be prosecuted for knowing about child abuse and not reporting it. This should be handled in the same way.

This school should be investigated and penalized accordingly as well. Make an example for once, and maybe things will change!

It's happened before and was the subject of the move The Accused for which Jodi Foster won an Oscar. If only one could have prevented the other. But the movie is "old" so the kids probably don't even know about it.

Actually they can be charged with aiding and abetting if their behavior contributed according to the above article. I would think videotaping would be goading but that might be difficult to prove in court. But if they were cheering or something obvious like that they will likely be charged. Unfortunately if they did just watch it seems nothing can be done.

Apparently the penalty for raping in a group is worse than one on one so they could get life.

They're not doing boys any favors by not teaching them when behavior is inappropriate. And this is why, they can't function in society as adults if they're not disciplined. Therefore not disciplining is akin to abuse IMO.
