My God - that list of English language films, while all brilliant, is perhaps the bleakest list of favourite films I've ever seen! I do love a good harrowing film though!

Those are two of very few films I can watch over and over without losing interest!

Some of my favourites:
The African Queen
I Want to Live
Mullholland Dr.
Postcards from theEdge
When Harry Met Sally
Hannah and Her Sisters
Nashville

There are definately more that I've forgotten about, the moment someone asks what my favourite of anything is, it goes straight out of my head!

For a while, DPS was like a religion for me. I can quote basically the entire movie and I cry EVERY time I watch it without fail. I've probably seen it 50+ times.

The Big Chill
CAMP
Saved
Mamma Mia!
Love Actually
13 Going on 30
Practical Magic
Hope Floats
Dr. Zhivago
Dreamgirls
Mean Girls

I love campy, cheesy, fabulous movies. It makes it so much better if it's a musical. Mean Girls is probably the Clueless of my generation...(early 20's).

I'm 21 and I though Clueless was the Clueless of my generation!
lol I love that movie. Mean Girls was okay...kind of predictable.

anyway, I have a soft spot in my heart for movie I watched as a kid:
Beetlejuice, A League of Their Own, Fried Green Tomatoes, Tommy Boy, etc.

as you can tell I like deep, meaningful movies.

Oh I'm with you on that. Tina Fey wrote the screen play for it so that makes it completely awesome in my eyes.

......... yeah I guess you're right! I have the original 'Italian Job' on my car's DVD player at the moment so I don't do 'harrowing' everyday.

Gone with the Wind
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Star Wars episodes 3-6 (I like to pretend the prequels don't exist)
Lost in Translation
Beauty and the Beast (Disney)
The Lion in Winter ("Peace? How about eternal peace?")
The Princess Bride
Pride and Prejudice (BBC Colin Firth version, okay technically a made for tv miniseries, but I'm counting it!)
North and South (Another BBC miniseries, not the 80's miniseries with Patrick Swayze which I also own)
Sliding Doors
Shaun of the Dead

I'm apparently living in the wrong country.

I forgot about these! I love them, especially Bringing Up baby, Kate Hepburn is hilarious in that.
