How did Dick Clark end up with Stevie's dress?
http://www.courierpostonline.com/app...712140376/1006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- IF YOU GO The rock auction begins at 1:30 p.m., with a preview from noon to 4:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Audubon Auctioneers, 100 West Merchant St. Visit www.auctioneers.com. Dick Clark memorabilia to be auctioned in Audubon By JUDITH W. WINNE Courier-Post Staff If you're interested in buying a piece of music history -- such as photos of Dick Clark and dancers on "American Bandstand" -- check out the rock 'n' roll auction Saturday in Audubon. The site is Audubon Auctioneers, 100 W. Merchant St. The auction starts at 1:30 p.m. Other nonrock items go on sale at 11 a.m. Saturday. Among the items are official Philadelphia proclamations citing "American Bandstand Day." "There are proclamations from every mayor from Rizzo to Rendell," said Brian Murphy of Haddonfield, a memorabilia broker. "They look like the Declaration of Independence. They're on parchment." Murphy, a pal of Clark's for decades, met his wife, Debbie White, on "Bandstand," when she was a dancer at the Philadelphia show and he was in the audience. He said Clark is "a big charity guy," and some of the proceeds will go to a pediatric AIDS foundation. Murphy predicted items might sell in the $50 to $350 range. There are more than 200 lots up for sale. Murphy said the Delaware Valley was a good site for the auction because "the roots of the show were here . . . There was a karma here." After more than a decade in Philadelphia -- where the singers included everyone from Connie Francis to Jackie Wilson -- "Bandstand" moved to the West Coast in 1964. Auction items from "Bandstand" and beyond include plaques from the 46th and Market streets studios, "keys" to the cities from various towns, signed contracts of "Bandstand" acts, a photo of Clark with Ronald Reagan and a letter from the president, Clark's personal tour jackets and music award clothing, many autographed photos of rock 'n' roll musicians, original artwork for music posters featuring many stars, a signed Yes Fender guitar, two Elton John outfits and a Stevie Nicks dress. Clark, the man once dubbed "America's oldest teenager," is now 78 years old. Murphy said the TV personality, who suffered a stroke several years ago, is doing well, and personally signed a Christmas card he received. "From the neck up, he's fine, but he's not going to run any marathons soon," Murphy said. |

He's an avid memorabilia collector. And with his access, he's probably got some great stuff.

If anyone comes across a picture of this dress, please post. I may consider digging into my savings and adding it to my "collection"
I've been looking and haven't found anything so far. Hopefully it's not that dreaded green Rhiannon dress from TINT tour. BLECH! That one has been around a few auctions already. |

That's an autographed TITN sweatshirt next to it. And what appears to be an enlarged TITN album cover pic - I thought it might be a gold or platinum record award at first, but there's no LP.

Thanks much for the pic! Yea, that one definitely looks vintage. It's nice, but I think I will pass. If it's gonna hang in my closet with the others, it has to be spectacular! ![]() |

Maybe someone else has old It's Only Rock and Roll auction catalogs sitting around...??? The auction for the dress did come with a photo of her wearing it, so I know there's one out there somewhere. PS: The dress is 2 piece, the top part is a tie in the front with long sleeves that bell at the end. The skirt is the typical hankie hem type. The material looks to be a black silk with burn out velvet that is a large green and gold glittery paisly design. It's really hideous... sorry, but ... really. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I really like this dress, it's one of my favourite outfits from that tour! Unless I got it wrong and you're referring to a completely different dress, in that case I'm very curious to see it.
