A few months back, I came close to putting together a script that focused on Stevie and her friendship with Robin Anderson. It started with them meeting in high school, and ended with Stevie choking up on stage after her death. Unfortunately, every time I put it to paper it was just too damned depressing.

Of course, it would also have plenty of kick-ass live performances.

got this article on google alerts today. could only muster... "dear god... no."

seriously, and thankfully, i don't think she has a prayer of securing the rights. we all know what control freaks stevie, lindsey, and mick are.

it'll never happen.

thank god.

I actually don't mind Hohan as an actress...I love Mean Girls. and I won't lie and say I don't tear up the dancefloor when they play Rumors. but I just don't see her, in any shape or form, being able to pull this off.

Was she even clear headed long enough to write this gem of a song.?.let's not forget she continued her downward spiral with an even more lethal addiction AFTER she got out of rehab the first time.I think the film should deal with that addiction and recovery too.

I think LL is a good actress and she could paly the role. Could she sing it - probably not - but then who could actually sing like that?

I completely agree - and was starting to think I was the only one on here who actually think LL has talent

She's a party gal - but she's YOUNG and rich...and unfortunately making a lot of the same mistakes all of us did - only she's in the spotlight...

She can act though - I've enjoyed every movie I've seen her in...I've never heard her sing though - oh wait, I did in A Prairie Home Companion...

hey if Reese Witherspoon can pull off June Carter then I think with coaching and practice LL could do Stevie.

Agreed ... none of us would like to have what we did in our 20's out on display for the world to see. She's young, she's growing, she'll hopefully grow out of her wild party antics. But you have to give credit where credit is due, Lindsay Lohan can act, she's very good. I too have enjoyed all of her movies that I've seen. I have no doubt she can pull this off.

I agree with you. I also think that having Lindsay Lohan attached to a Stevie related project could only bring more exposure to Stevie herself, especially from a much younger demographic.

If they tried to pack everything in one movie, it would be one big mess. I was just trying to arbitrate some bookends to make what I think might be an interesting and exciting movie. Including the Klonopin years would mean Lohan would have to gain 80 pounds for the role, or spend 2 months in a latex suit. Acting skills or none, I just can't imagine her doing that, nor can I imagine her effectively portraying a 45 year-old woman dealing with the loss of her sex-symbol status. Right now she's only talking about the Mac's heyday which would require the least effort from her possible.

And if the movie includes all those other hardships, what about the leaky silicone breast implants, what about the period where Stevie was claiming to have Epstein-Barr, what about the Inauguration and 6 months of jokes about her afterwards, what about...? It's too much.

I see what you're saying, though. A full history would be great. Keep praying for the autobiography.

Maybe they can split it into 3 parts and we'll be talking about Stevie movies for the next 10 years. Then, after that we can look forward to the digitally-enhanced re-releases that fix all the stuff they couldn't get right the first time around. Then the prequels start and we get a Fritz movie with her meeting Lindsey, watching Janis Joplin on stage, and Jimi Hendrix remarking about her yellow panties. Then a Buckingham-Nicks movie where we get to see the real origin of Landslide and Rhiannon and deal with the nudie album cover photo shoot........

I think the movie should start in high school, when Stevie sings "California Dreamin'" with Lindsey, and end during "The Chain" performance at the first "The Dance" taping. Yes, there is a lot of ground to cover... but it could totally be done with the right script and editing. May be a 2.5-hour movie, which would focus on:

1. Stevie meeting Lindsey, falls in love, records album. Focus on BN cover photoshoot.
2. S&L joining FM. Focus on sexual tension with Mick.
3. Sex, drugs, rock n' roll between 75-80, breaking up with Lindsey, shacking up with Mick. Focus on guitar-slinging incident in NZ, Christine slapping Lindsey.
4. Solo career takes off, jealousy erupts within the band, drug use escalates. Focus on Stevie falling off stage during RAL tour.
5. Stevie goes to rehab and Lindsey backs out of TITN tour. Focus on Lindsey chasing Stevie and smacking her around.
6. Klonopin daze, obesity, depression, cold war with Lindsey and Mick. Focus on the second rehab from Klonopin, which was worse than rehab from coke.
7. Triumphant reunion in 1997.

I personally think La Lohan could pull this off. Although she may be a total space case in real person, she has the voice, the youthful energy and the acting chops to do Stevie justice. I just can't imagine any of the typical blonde girlie-girl actresses doing Stevie. Lindsay has a certain darkly feminine edge about her that suits her for this role.

So who would play Christine? I can't think of any actresses who are, well, masculine enough . You's gotta have balls to play some Christine!

Exactly what I was thinking. You have a perfect set-up, because the California Dreaming story is still a pretty neat one, considering their history and with the Dance reunion you have that dreamy, happy ending that Hollywood people love. They love showing people going through the worst of the worst and coming out with a cherry on top.

Again though, I still wonder what they are going to use as a reference, should a project like this come to fruition. Stevie is going to wait until she's 90 and everyone else is dead to spill anything, Mick only has a lot of disoriented cocaine induced years as reference, the result of which ended up in that ridiculous book. Lindsey is usually not one to tattletale, although lately I have to admit he's getting a little more loose-lipped. Christine is too busy drinking tea in England and probably doesn't want to be bothered with a thing like this. John would rather be sailing, or doing anything else really, than having be sat down and asked about the not so glorious moments of Fleetwood Mac.

That's 1978, and nothing especially tragic had happened to any of them at that point. Yeah, there was a lot of partying amidst some affairs and breakups - boo-freakin-hoo.

On the other hand, if they started in the studio while Bella Donna was being recorded, and ended with Stevie coming out of rehab, clear-headed at her piano writing DTBTIC, I could see it. All the Mac stuff could be handled in hyperreal drug-fueled flashbacks - that way you couldn't tell what was real and what was exaggerated, thus sparing everyone else's precious reputations.

Much more interesting will be the Landslide of lawsuits that bring down Ms. Lohan is Stevie doesn't like what's going on.
This post is spot on. They would have to center on the party, attractive years, like these things always do. The affairs would be overdramatized, the songs would be only hits - I would hope for a big blowout scene with Joe Walsh featuring the song "Long Way to Go", but that's probably a bit of a fantasy. Or it would be depicted in the fantasy hyperreal drug fueled flashback mode that you spoke of.
I don't care if she does it or not - we already know that it will be crappy, anyone's rendition of Stevie probably would be subpar to us. But, if it makes more people examine Stevie's work, then, hurrah.

I would wish that we could find an Angela Basset (Tina Turner) or a Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) to do justice to STevie, but I think that is a huge challenge. Which I think will make the movie more about the dramatic entanglements rather than the music.
So.
I know already that the thing that will piss me off most is the same thing that is evident in Stevie's setlist - all the same songs, all the time. I don't think we'll be getting any renditions of how awesome live Stevie really is, and always has been, and all those strange and beautiful moments that her voice really had, which is about 45% of the true breadth of her talent. We ain't getting no Tusk doc Angel dance, if you know what I mean. And I think it would be almost impossible to find any actress to recreate that even somewhat successfully, to be honest.

*giggles* It's so much fun being part of a group who understand a reference as obscure as that....

This isn't going to happen, by the way.
But if it did, I would be absolutely crushed...! Lohan is the absolute LAST person on the list of people I would like to see play Stevie. Last. We all saw what happened with Edge of Seventeen..... She's pretty, young and maybe can sing a little bit, but I think this would do Stevie's popularity with the younger generation more harm than good in the long run when Lohan has been forgotten....

But, as has been pointed out and explained, this isn't going to happen. And if it does, I'm with those people jumping in rivers.

PS: If Stevie did give this the go-ahead, I would never speak to her again _either_.
