Oh, I'm so glad someone can relate.

I ordinarily have no problems at all with agnostics or atheists, but the fact that I can't find anyone who isn't is starting to make me resent them a little.

Right. I don't have a problem with them either - BUT in the person I want to spend the rest of my life with - I'd really like it if we could at least share a faith or spirituality. It'd be a definite bonus.

As far as practicing in another Buddhist group...Nichiren Buddhism entails a specific practice which is very different from what Zen Buddhists or Tibetan Buddhists or Shin Buddhists practice, for example. If you practice with any one of these groups, you're expected to practice the way they teach. I couldn't very well go into a Zen silent meditation group and start chanting Namu Myoho Renge Kyo. Anyway. More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.
Not at all, but if you've met some...I guess you didn't like any of them? Because if your criteria is for someone to "have a spiritual practice" then they fit the bill. I guess I thought there were buddhist...uh...activities besides only the group specific practices.
Oh, and you don't live in Houston, I get it.
I guess you'll have to go where the spiritual practices are to find the spiritually practicing gay people. I'm suprised there isn't flyers, or something online, or etc., for gay christians, or other groups.
Whatever, I'm no expert, I tend to date very close to home, if that makes sense. And when I ran out of random friends, I didn't really date.
But, to be fair, I couldn't ever afford to go anywhere. Do you go to a gym? Like especially a yoga class? You see what I'm saying? Heck, I bet there's gay yoga somewhere in a city like Austin.
I've kinda learned that it's hard to meet people if you don't really go out.

Yeah, I like them, they're great...but they're 3 hours away.

A lot of gay Christians, IME, tend to be these uber-Christians...like they've got something to prove. I dunno. Like I said, I don't even care about meeting gay people. I'm not looking for a date, just some friends. I thought about finding some kind of volunteer work somewhere. Or checking out a UU church. Yoga is an idea, though.

Yeah, if I was gay I wouldn't want to date a gay christian.
I think yoga and the gym is a great idea. Except for the fact that I seem to remember that you don't exercise? But I can see yoga really helping you to focus your practice, and it is often the best exercise for people who don't like more vigorous kinds, with the running and the sweating and the breathing hard.
Or Tai Chi? That is the really slow controlled movement practice, I've known buddhists who practice that as a part of their spirituality. I think it was Tai Chi...yeah...
