It's kind of funny, yet odd that they took down the Stevie stuff saying that it was copyright infringement. There are tons of other artists random stuff up there, vids, tv appearances from cbs, nbc etc. that would fall into the same category as copyright infringement. So it makes you wonder why Stevie's stuff was targeted.

Well, call me tone deaf. I think Sheryl sounds totally on key live. She strikes me as much more able to hit tone than Stevie, who is hit or miss when it comes to nailing that root.

I think SC is on key, my prob. is I am not that fond of her voice. Having said that, I like her music and respect her huge talent.

I'm not trying to Sheryl bash, but really, she doesn't have that great of a rock and roll voice. I know she is a trained operatic singer---but she can't sing rock and roll to save her life. And the thing is, I really want to like Sheryl Crow, I think she's a great multi-instrumentalist and she can co-write really good, infectious pop songs with great guitar hooks and fun groovy licks, and don't even get me started on her fabulous production credits, but her voice just doesn't do it for me. I think her best vocals were on Tuesday Night Music Club. On that album, her voice was raw and unpolished and in some areas kind of gravely and husky sounding--really nice. Her singing of late sounds the worst of her career. It's too slick and uninspired, it really just sounds like she's just phoning it in at this point. For instance, I just heard another one of her new songs off of Wildflower the other day and it sounds like a commercial jingle! Girlfriend needs to go back to Rock School.

Default it's not sc bashing per se . . .

it's not bashing miss crow to say your not into her stuff -
and i'd agree that she is probably a better back up singer than stevie (stevie turns everything into a duet anyhow - and that's why we love her)
but i think when crow sings with stevie she generally ends up with the really high parts - and those are the toughest to hear on stage (yes i play and get stuck with high parts too - lol)

all that said -
i think crow is amazing - i love her stuff -
tough and vulnerable - c'mon c'mon is just blazing cd for me
great rock and roll songs with some ballads
i see many qualities musically that i like about stevie - in sheryl

just my humble opinion in my first humble post
woo hoo

Default Thank God for Sheryl

IMO

Had it not been for Sheryl being the talented girl she is...there might not have been A TISL Album..at least not the way it was. I give her kuddos for being a tough girl in a mans world...doing her thing and giving Stevie's songs life.

Je suis d'accord. If you could listen only to Sheryl's harmony on the Blockbuster Fall From Grace, you would be better able to hear the amazing pliability & tonality that Sheryl has. She's an excellent backup/harmony singer.

yes - i am sorry - i think my post was confusing - i think we are making a similar point -
i think s crow is a fantastic back up singer -
and i agree her tone and pliableness (adaptability?) are first rate -
i was disagreeing with the posts that said she doesn't sound good when she backs up stevie - i think she does awesome job -

and hey - if it worked for michael jackson . . .
