Love Is is a really beautiful song. I really like the entire CD .I wish Stevie would do one more cd WITH NEW OR NEVER ISSUED SONGS.

I cannot vote since it's a 4-way tie between TISL, Bombay Sapphires, Fall from Grace, and Love is (although the demo is far superior to the album version for Love is).

TISL without a doubt, with It's Only Love a close second.

When I first heard TISL I nearly cried. I thought it was absolutely fantastic. So much emotion in the tune, it's really dark. The lyrics are just gorgeous & so descriptive. I thought to myself "she's back, baby!"

It's Only Love is one of her best vocals, so fragile & vulnerable.

I love this album... it's usually in a three-way tie for me with 'The Wild Heart' and 'Rock A Little.'

I voted for "Bombay Sapphires." There's not a single line in that song that I don't relate to, to the core of my being. I had a relationship which is perfectly summed up in those lyrics.

"You -- beloved,
Were to me -- everything that love stood for.
To love one another for a while, was enough...
It was all that I lived for.
How can I go on without you,
Can I go on without you...
I tell myself -- this time I'm going to have to move on...."

And, yes, I was eventually able to see past him to the white sands.

My Top 5

1. Trouble in Shangri-La
Stevie hadn't served up a strong title track in years, so this was a proud moment. Great lyrics, great chorus, great voice. "Before the dawn of separation" still sends chills up the spine. The last 30 seconds of the song sounds a little like the end crescendo of Big Love.

2. Planets of the Universe
I haven't been too impressed when Stevie adds new lines to old songs, but the stanza "No doubt, no pain comes ever again/Let there be light in this lifetime/In the cool, silent moments of the nighttime" is brilliant and practically changes the mood of the entire song.

3. Candlebright
I love how the dark, rumbling rhythm section is juxtaposed against the light, playful mandolin.

4. Sorcerer
One word: falsetto

5. Fall From Grace
I love how the Amazon.com critic described this song: 'Unflinching, autobiographical "Fall from Grace," recorded at punk rock speed.'

Ain't that the truth! The album version is a little sterile when compared with the soulfully heartbreaking demo.

This part:

"Sometimes.... you just fall from grace............"
{machine gun drum fill} - {dark Am} - {crunchy guitar build}

that leads to the end-

"Maybe I am calmer now..."

That part- that little snippet snapshot is the absolute essence of Stevie. Dark, dark, intense darkness. Every time I hear it my entire spine is electrified.

I would, but I am in class in the moment. The demo is great, but I think there is one for TISL and another one, possibly mid-late 90's - anybody know

I knew I loved you, too bad you like boys and I like girls. You have exquisite taste Stew boy! Bombay Sapphires is probably my favorite if I were forced to pick with a gun to my head.
And you know what, you will be able to see past him because it's not about him, it's about you and it's all true. If he can't recogzine your beauty this time you're going to have to move on...

I adore Candlebright. It's the most underrated and overlooked song on the album. The music is great, producition superior (despite the fact that I dislike Sheryl Crow), and the lyrics are stellar. This song has such a sexy feeling to it and these lyrics are some of her best IMO:
"You guide me back again
And I come when you shine
You are not my friend, no
But I am something of a dreamer
I am something of a dreamer
I am something of a dreamer"
So Stevie to the core!

I will post it later tonight. If I do it now I will start to cry and I'm at work, it's that astounding, powerful, and heartfelt.

Enjoy this special gift Stevie has given us! (acutally she didn't give it to us, but we still love it) Seriously though, this is one of the most special songs ever. As Stevie would say, it's "especially special".
