It sound like there's your answer, like deep down, even while dealing with crap. You like your job.And that 's a nice thing to be able to say. That's hard to find. I hope it works out and that what you really want happens for you........

From what I've read, I'd take the new job offer rather than stay in the old one unless they give you substantially more than what you'd be getting at the new job. And I'm not just talking about money. HOWEVER, if your current job makes offers, get them in writing. And hold them to what they offer if you choose to stay.

I agree with Amber - it doesn't sound like your current job is really all that flexible to me. And - you're young, it's not like you've been there 20 years & have a ton of seniority to give up, you'll be back to where you are now in no time.

I had the same situation as you - at my previous job I had been there a while, I ate at my desk if at all, but if I had to take off early once in a while it was no biggie. I was friends with most of my coworkers & well liked. However, the pay wasn't great & morale was low in general. Way too much work for one person, and no respect. Plus I had to work some weekends & stay evenings if my relief ditched.

I left and took a pay CUT Now I work M-F, one Saturday a month (and that's stopping in a few weeks) and no evenings. I love my schedule, and I have my sanity. Plus, I was back up to what I was making within a year. And 1 hour mid-day lunches aren't bad at all - I get so much done, sometimes I take care of my grocery shopping, sometimes I'll get a brisk walk in, or I run to Target, or I just sit here & eat while surfing the net. LOVE IT!

Either way, do what you feel is right. Let us know what happens.

If it were me, I'd take the new job. It sounds like the environment you are in isn't healthy plus more money is always good. Also, if your company does counter-offer then tell the new company and maybe they'll give you more vacation time or something. That is negotiable. When I look back I always think if I could do something different I would have taken more risks. All that said, you must go with your gut and do what's right for you. Whatever you choose things are about to change for you for the better it seems. Good luck!

update: I turned in my notice this morning and my main boss did nothing to try to counter-offer or talk to me to get me to stay.

her responses is that I should work my 2 weeks and wants a memo of what I do. wtf? yeah, that'll happen. it won't help them anyway. no one can do what I do, really.

so, I guess that really is classic. shows that what I'm doing is the right thing.

karma's a bitch.

so, I guess my Miami trip is out.

Awww...I'm sorry.
but you know, $350 more a month - if you saved it, you would have saved $4200 in a year! So that is good.
I hope you like your new position.
You should move here, there's always hella paralegal jobs, and I think you would enjoy the nightlife....

Oh Jason, what a hateful heinous bitch! Well, I'm happy for you that you're getting the hell out of there. Like someone said earlier, you're so young- you'll build up seniority in no time. xoxo

Good riddance, they obviously don't appreciate you. I'm sure the new job will be great!
