Well I should buy the cd, my LP is almost 30 years old and "Warm Ways" sounds more like "Worn Ways"

Well, after my re-format, 2-3 months ago, all my musical odds and ends got burned off, and are sitting in a big pile of CDs. I haven't got around to sorting through everything. When it first crashed, my CD burner was locked up, too. I got my guy to get it working enough, without reformatting, that I got the computer back for a couple of weeks, and was able to save hundreds of FM odds and ends.

That's great that you were able to save all of your Fleetwood Mac stuff. I just got my computer back. The entire operating system had to be re-installed. Fortunately, I burn as much to CD as I can right away. I managed to save all my pictures, videos & music. The only things I lost were some e-mails that I had stored on the computer.

What was wrong with it? Just curious if it was a virus, received through an email. I got THREE last year!
I now check my email on my server's site, delete what I don't want-there-, then download them(all one or two ).
Last week, viruses in emails crashed my ISP's mail server, and was down for most of a day. Damned hackers!

I have Norton's Anti-Virus running & always current on my computer. About 4 weeks ago, I got a Norton's alert that it had detected a virus but was unable to remove it. I didn't know what to do & since my computer at that time seemed to be running OK, I just let it go. Two days later as I was shutting down my computer for the day, it crashed. I got it back up & running the next morning, then it crashed again. I took it to a computer repair shop near my house & they removed the virus manually. When I got it back home, it crashed again(as I was attempting to download a Billy Burnette album, by the way). I took it back & they discovered the hard drive was going. This time I took my computer to Best Buy(where I have an extended service contract). They replaced the hard drive, which is now twice as big as my original hard drive. When they tried to re-install my operating system using my DVD recovery disc, they found out my DVD drive was gone too. I had already known this, but hadn't thought much about it since I mostly use my DVD player to play DVD's. They had to send the computer out to California to have the DVD drive replaced. Then when they got it back, they were finally able to re-install the operating system. As it turned out, the original virus didn't cause the problem. The hard drive was going, causing my computer to crash. That's also why my Norton's Anti-Virus software wasn't working properly. If I didn't have that extended service contract, I would have had to buy a new computer. It wouldn't have been worth it to have it fixed.

David, sorry if this was so long for you to read...but you asked me.

It's all good. I was mainly just wondering if others are getting emailed viruses, too.

Hope you have very happy holidays, Mary Anne.
