Macs spine is the bassline. happy 60th, John. Your wit is to die for and your creative additions to all macsongs are priceless. The way you drive Over and Over is my latest fix. So simple yet so defining. Greatness. Just convince Lindsey to hire a studio for six weeks and pull off an album straight from the guts with a live-feel. So you will not be confronted with the same segment again and again and again and again in the studio and you'll all get the full picture of the songs in an instant.

And It's totally instrumental in SOTM. Totally!

The list goes on and on. The biggest one, honestly, is GYOW. That **** would not be half the song it is without the drumandbass awesomeness. And even such "throwaway" songs as IDWTK - and Dreams, too!

For Reals, this guy is THE MAN.

I'm just saying.

Jay McVie is the one who made bunches of our faves kick ass.

So lets not just pay lip service - I say - this is a man who made the songs what they are as much as the writers or vocalists or producers. I think part of FM's standout is "whatever" it is that the bassline contributes.
Sesly. With a less accomplished bass player, this band would have been so much more mediocre. And I really believe that with all my brain. I thank god every song for John, and I wish he was on Stevie's solo records, I think he is that important.
JMO.
*yes, I've been outed as a bass geek*

I actually love him.
Of course. I completely agree, especially about GYOW and SOTM. Also, his bass is what makes me love "Blue Letter" so much.

If you haven't heard Miles Away from Mystery to Me, do it now. Most kick-ass bass line ever!

Hey since it's offically the 26th now, Mr Mcvie, Fleetwood Mac would be nothing without you. Thanks for almost 40 years of rock steady bass playing.
