I just watched "Pat Robertson's Greatest Hits"... I had heard most of those quotes before or had seen the clips, but never all in one place.
There's a rocker somewhere in Virginia, and Patty-Bob is totally off of it.

It cracks me up when these fundamentalist dunderheads say that kids should "make up their own minds" & that therefore "all sides" should be "presented" (in other words, fundamentalist religion as well as science, as if the two were equivalent in the context of schooling).
Make up their own minds?! What the hell does that mean as regards a scientific theory? "I've decided that I like chocolate ice cream better than vanilla"?? Picture it: Somewhere in the bowels of a public school, an unsaved science teacher decides that today's lesson will focus on how a plane gets off the ground. So he is going to discuss the laws of gravity & thermodynamics & the various forces involved: lift, thrust, friction, momentum, etc. After that, he's been instructed to turn to his students & tell them, "I want you to make up your own minds." What are they supposed to do? "Uhh ... yeah ... it's got a good beat ... I give it a 5." The sap religionist on TV this evening -- some senator from Alabama or somewhere -- said, "I truly believe that Gawd is in full control of all the forces of nature & uses nature to do His bidding. I also believe that the hurricane was sent by Gawd to punish the sinners who live & fornicate along the Gulf Coast." (He didn't put it in quite those words.) So how do these sap religionists advance from "Gawd uses nature to do His bidding" to actually state what they "know" Gawd's purpose is in sending the hurricanes? How do they know Gawd's purpose has anything to do with sinners & fornicators? How do they know that Gawd's purpose doesn't have anything to do with the recharge of groundwater to replenish wells, cave streams & springs (hurricanes actually benefit wetlands & marshes in the long run--the sediment that the storm surge pushes inland nourishes the marshes in years to come). How do they know groundwater recharge isn't Gawd's purpose? I'll tell you why: because these sap religionists WEREN'T PAYING ATTENTION IN SCIENCE CLASS!!
