Well, you could throw in "Sisters of the Moon" (Halloween enough) and say it's about her, right?

Here's a very early version of Morning Rain. It has different lyrics from the eventual album track & even a different working title...Start Again.

Here's Get Like You Used To Be. At the very end, someone yells Weeehooooo! It sounds like Chris.

Wow, the version of "Get Like You Used to Be" here is so much stronger than the one featured on the "Madison Blues" set. Christine is much more in control of her voice and her piano gives the song an added lift.

And the version of "Morning Rain" is, to my way of thinking, far superior to the album version. Christine actually sounds like Christine here, whereas on the album she sounds like a woman pretendiing to be a five-hundred pound man. The live version tempo is up and poppy, and the mix never sounds thick like it does on "Future Games." What were the band thinking featuring the version they did: I mean, the piano and Kirwan's guitar on the album's take is excellent, buut that's all. Everything is else is almost distastrous.

I agree. Back in those very early days, she seemed to have a real problem with her voice live in front of an audience. It may have been a problem with with the equipment. She complained alot about the monitors in that Seattle radio show. It may also have been just a lack of experience. She got ALOT better with practice. I think she sounds great on these BBC tracks & those first four Christine Perfect Band tracks at the beginning of the Madison Blues box set.

Once again, I agree.

This Morning Rain is in the key or D flat or D (Can't tell from tape variation, it's in between).

The album is in the lower key of B, which makes a big difference. I don't know why they recorded it in such a lower key.

Thank you for this bit. I knew I weas hearing more than just a difference in attitude between the two. And as far as D goes (Not sure about D-flat), Chris has sung a number of her songs in that key. I'm thinking notably of "Don't Stop," which I believe is in D-major, and sounds a lot like the live version of "Morning Rain."

That was in E. But she sang Get Like, Over My Head, Honey Hi, Never Forget, & Skies the Limit in D. I think Roll With Me Henry is in D, too.

Cause it sounds like morning rain. Duh.

Seriously though, I like the album version so much better than this one here (Thanks for sharing).
