The other 'How Still' most memorable for me is the 1983 US Festival; out in the desert somewhere in California. It was vividly mesmerizing to watch and listen to her do this song , which I wasn't expecting to hear. i think it holds up very well on the US Festival tapes, yet to see and hear it during a time when she was at a career zenith was quite extraordinary. That night she also did a fantastic 'Angel' and in those days it was really something to see Stevie live, because her live performances (for me) always far surpassed her studio recordings and there were quite a lot of surprising' i never thought she'd sing that song, but she did!' moments, that disappeared sometime right after 'Rock A Little'.....

You mean,........After she sobered up!

I hate calling it the Tweeter Center. I always call it great woods, but everyone always looks at me funny when I do.

I love love love this tune live. Now I really want to go through my boots & decide which one is best!

As far as Vegas in May - I know what Diss means about being anticlimactic on the bootleg. But live? On Wed 5-11 it was fan-f*cking-tastic. There was a really sexy vibe going through the place that just doesn't come across on video/audio recordings.

I totally agree. The whole vibe of Stevie's performance is what made it so great.

Definitely didn't catch this vibe. Out of all 4 vegas shows Ive seen on DVD id have to say this show is the worst.

I thought sorcerer and HSML were really sexy from the last night but not Wed. night.

Really? You thought Tues 5-10 was better than Wed 5-11?

It's true, though, you had to be there, so I know what you guys mean.

Vocally, the 8-6 HSML is fantastic. She had more oohs and ahhhs and ad libs than from what I heard in May. Watching though, is whoreanus. Seeing her give her sound guy the evil eye and gestures kinda ruined the sexiness of the song. That, and we rushed the stage right in the middle. Stupid ushers.

I agree the adlibs were better than the Vegas shows but she went low on all the vocals once she had trouble with the ear.

Yes I think Tuesday she was better vocally. She really didn't kick in until Beauty and the Beast.

I remember telling Brittany, "She's screwed." Then everyone rushed the stage, and I don't remember anything else of that song until I watched it back on the DVD. Definately my least favorite.

Those security gaurds were total A**holes. Jesus, they really had some issues. Blocking the people back like that, I was getting so angry just watching it.

For real. You can see Jason and I taking one hand of hers each and pulling her back into the audience. You can't see the rest of our bodies until later, but you can see our arms and hands grab her.

A great Edge, though. A really really really good Edge.

And I think you're crazy.

S'okay, no worries. To each his/her own - plus bootlegs almost never do a show justice, IMO. From someone who was there, Tuesday she was a bit reserved & tentative, then hit B&TB out of the park. Wednesday she was spot on for the entire show but B&TB wasn't quite as amazing as it had been on Tuesday (of course, that may have been due to people screaming during the song. ) I didn't attend Fri or Sat, but I hear Sat was the best of the 4 May shows.

Carry on.

I agree. It is a lot different when you actually there. I was so impressed with her when I saw her in mansfield this year, then I listened to the bootleg and it didn't seem as good.

yeah it was really good vocally but she looked so tired. She must have been combined with the problems with her dad. Which makes Saturday 5-14-05 the best edge of 17 ever.
