Some of you may have read this when we had our Stevie contest a few months ago, but for those of you who haven't here it is.
"In Her" In her I can feel the pain of the world Like prayers unanswered by God In her I touch the anguish That only she feels just In her I can see the darkness Like the time before acceptance In her I can feel a burden One that she solely bears Like a wooden cross upon the back of all humanity In her I view real life, a trueness of self, Not looking for acceptance from most Only those who have felt the same hopelessness at their feet In her I can see independence, dying to be set free, Only too scared of what lies waiting out beyond the storms In her I see genteel frailty shielded wearily with superficial strength As she tries to face the steely world about In her I search the harsh world that has educated her soul A world she wishes to alter in hopes of healing her wounds Only to be lost down the winding road that took her gods to salvation In her I face myself

In the darkness that is her symbol
The wind starts to blow making trees tremble Silhouetted against the moon her dark form appears Upon her face are the tracks of her tears With a gesture from her hand the winds suddenly cease All is now quiet the forest at peace She walks with purpose to a solitary grave And remembers the story of this lonely knave In his life he committed a single crime He had loved a witch saying I will make her mine They were happy together as all could tell But some say he was under a spell Then one day a child disappeared The village cried It's The Witch! Run In Fear! They dragged her through the streets and locked her in a cage Her blood began to boil her mind began to rage She unleashed her powers Hell rained down Fire and brimstone destroyed the town Everyone died including her love When out of the sky came a white winged dove It settled upon the dead hand of her knave And cried why is he dead, it is he you must save The witch cried I cannot restore life The dove replied You will never become his wife The figure turns to disappear It will not return for another year All that is left is a grave marked Shannon The figure was his love the Witch called... Rhiannon (I wrote that in high school, be kind)

OH-kay, so this is a little poem about Stevie that I wrote almost a
year ago - I don't pretend that this is publishable or even all that good, it's just a little "thingy" that I wrote for fun. There's some tense changes and stuff but hey, "that's just the POET that i AM!" ( )Anyway, here it is - it's just meant as a little "compliment" to The Stevester. Rattlesnakes Sound in the Distance "Rattlesnakes sound in the distance. Sun blooms over the desert. Shimmering shivers of heat, scintillate up to the sky – but all that they do is make her ask why. And serve to point out – The desparately cold frost on a hill that seems monstrously high. Has all been lost? Or is there still a way to get by? She points, we look up – shooting star streaming across the sky. “No THERE!” (she reminds us). It is Rhiannon, of course. We try to take flight but can’t reach to that height. “Silly! You must first learn to fall!” said she, (as rattlesnakes sounded in the distance. . . ) But Rhiannon, she calls For us to bust through these walls - As the bitter cold of the Planets of the Universe . . . helps us to be warm. It’s from love that she falls, fell, will have fallen – But that got us started talkin’ about what love is (as rattlesnakes sounded in the distance). And now the desert floor begins to shake, from a thousand ancient little earthquakes and from players who turned out to be fakes. “Hah!” she laughs. To me this is steady (and it helps me get you ready! . . .) Then the three birds, they dive down. “A mountain!? To us it’s a clown!” - They swoop down, whoosh by, the ice explodes in a glittering gale of fairy-tale glamorie! “What are those birds?” we ask less-one-clue. “Why don’t you know?” (she secretly smiles). “Honey, that’s easy – they’re you!” So - that's it! ![]() Last edited by Ghost_Tracker; 09-30-2005 at 01:16 PM.. |

Thanks! That is very kind of you. I will have to say that Ghosttracker and RavenofRhiannon's poems are just terrific. Much better than mine, IMhumbleO. But, I'm happy with my little ode to Stevie.
