UT will win this year.

UT/A & M - another huge rivalry. F*ckin' Aggies.

Oklahoma/Texas joke-

Texans along the Red River were throwing sticks of dynamite at the their Oklahoma counterparts on the North side of the Red River...

The Oklahomans picked up the sticks of dynamite, lit 'em and threw 'em back!!!

Sox vs. Yanks

Last year when the Sox were playing the yankees in the world series everything was crazy around here. Every news report was about baseball and how this was a major comeback for the sox. Even the teachers at my private high school lightened up the load of homework so we could stay up and watch the games. One teacher even gave us extra points on our test because he knew everyone was up watching the game.

Colorado Avalanche versus Detroit Red Wings.

The Avs are my team...but I'm from Michigan. Help, I'm torn! The rivalry between these two teams is pretty kooky at times, especially here in Denver. Speaking out in favor of the Red Wings might get your teeth knock out in certain LoDo bars...

Was having this very thought, as I prepared to write:

NHL - Montreal vs. Quebec City. And when the QC Nordiques went belly-up, it became Montreal-Toronto.

But, yeah. What Lux said.

Baseball:

RED SOX/YANKEES is probably the MOST intense rivalry in US sports, for sure.

Not QUITE as intense as in the 50's & 60's, but still "bad blood"...DODGERS vs GIANTS

ANGELS vs A's is getting to be pretty big, nowadays (the AL's version of Dodgers/Giants, I guess...the whole SoCal vs Bay Area thing)

CARDINALS/CUBS

NBA:
Yeah...LAKERS/CELTICS (again, it's lost its lustre due to both teams sucking these days)

New one as of last year: PACERS/PISTONS (thanks to Ron Artest & the Pistons hooligan fans)

NFL:
BRONCOS/RAIDERS (or RAIDERS vs any AFC West team)

PACKERS/BEARS

COWBOYS/REDSKINS (still fairly intense)

College Football:

NEBRASKA/OKLAHOMA (actually, the whole BIG 12 is one big rivalry)

OHIO STATE/MICHIGAN

USC/UCLA

USC/NOTRE DAME

COLORADO/COLORADO STATE

FLORIDA STATE/MIAMI

most definitely the red sox-yankees~ of course i am a DIEHARD RED SOX fan~ whenever we see the yanks play us in fenway, it is the best~ people throw hot dogs @ ea other & give ea other stares of "if looks could kill"~ i think the past 2 yrs w/ the play-offs & the bo-soxs finally winning the world series were some of the most drama filled games i have ever watched~ not to mention the drama from '86~ i love me some bo-sox!!!~

Default You guys probably haven't heard of this....

The rivalry between Rangers and Celtic (2 "soccer" teams in Scotland) has to be one of the bitterest

"The result of the combination of the two clubs' dominance of Scottish football, and their significance in social, cultural and political terms, is that both Celtic and Rangers are prominent institutions in Scottish life to a degree beyond what would be expected for large football clubs elsewhere in Britain."

"The competition between the two clubs has its roots in more than just a simple athletic rivalry. It is infused with a series of complex disputes centred on religion (Catholic and Protestant) and Irish politics. The result has been an enduring enmity between fans that has extended beyond the kind of intra-city footballing rivalry that might be expected in situations where two clubs dominate a country's footballing scene. This has been manifested in a history laden with violent incidents, sometimes leading to deaths."

In the west of Scotland, life revolves around Rangers and Celtic. Everyone has a preference (almost always corresponding to their religion). Its kind of scary sometimes!!

There are usually assaults after matches, and there have even been murders.

I think that rivalry is only matched by the Aglo/Australian Cricket rivalry...both are awesomely passionate, but never really violent.

What is it with all these Sox fans?

Yankees - Red Sox. Best, most intense rivalry. It can get real vicious.

Yay! post # 4,000!!!

The blackshirts are actually quite a militant group of men who go around shaming single female parents

You're buddy Christian Laettner right? I hate him too. He came here to Minnesotato play in the NBA as a high draft pick, and was pretty much a dog.
