Any job that pays you less than your time is worth. Any job that you dread going to before you even go to bed at night. ANy job where you work hard and are not appreciated for it.

I live your nightmare everyday. That is my job. I think any job where I had to deal with sewage would be the worst job.

LOL, well as a funeral director, I'll disagree. I started working in a funeral home at 16 and thought it was pretty freaking disgusting. Death always had a way of making me queesy. I rarely ever would go to funerals. I'm still not sure what possesed me to apply for a jov there. Then I saw how much respect and care my boss and co-workers treated not only the families but the deceased as well, it changed my mind.

I rarely work with the deceased anymore, but I will when asked. I've even worked my own family's funerals. When my best friend's grandfather died, I prepared him. Strange seeing him naked but I knew how he would part his hair and what he "looked" like when he was alive, without having to rely on a photo. We received a number of compliments on how much he looked like himself. I often feel like they're in the room with me (weird I know), gives me some comfort.

Sorry for the ramble.

Sounds like being a RN. I don't like my job at the moment.

What's your specialty? I'm an RN, too, and I think that disliking the job is a pretty normal thing from time to time....you wear many hats...patient advocate...role model...mentor....leader....follower...vomit catcher...butt wiper...tear dryer...hand holder...healer...physician squasher....physician supporter....everybody's everything. Appreciated usually by patients, hardly by administration, mostly by your co-workers who work in the trenches with ya!

Coroner - seeing the terrible ways that people die.

Landfill workers. Digging though all that trash and stink would be unimaginable.

My job ain't that great - dealing with people in divorce and custody situations and trying to be financially responsible to yourself when people can't or won't pay sucks.

Very interesting ramble at that. I enjoyed reading your post. It is such an intriguing and vital occupation.

My mother also works at a funeral home. She actually went to beauty school, and started working at the funeral home as their resident hairstylist... now she's fulltime staff there and does everything (except, of course, the tasks that only the licensed mortician is allowed to do, such as embalming, etc.).

Let's see.... in middle school, we decided the worst job was to be the one who "cleaned up" everything after the filming of a porno.

So very well said. I have experienced those circumstances too often in my life.

The most disgusting job has to be the people who clean up the site of
a mass murder scene or something almost as grisely. You know, some guy hacks up three people in hotel room. Who cleans it up? That's the worst.

The guy who sits in the tower at prisons to make sure no one escapes. 12 hour days. No tv, no radio, no magazines or books. Just stare at the highway all day long and watch cars go by. I can't imagine anything more boring or that would drive me more bananas.
