Really? I love his intro! Then again, I just love hearing his voice no matter what (high pitched, deep, cracking, laughing, singing, talking...).

Believe it or not, my initial interest in Fleetwood Mac was a carry over of my love (at the time) of Stevie Nicks, or Bella Donna specifically. But as soon as "The Chain" started on the premiere of The Dance... my loyalties shifted and fast. I've been a Buckinghamaniac ever since.

Yay Hil!!! I am SO happy for you...(I guess now I better get Mirage then, right?) Oh, and I got your email and I so will reply as soon as I can...I'm just thrilled you got OOTC because it has now become, like, my second fave album of all time (I mean, it overtook the Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Polly, Leonard, George...that means something). But, yeah, second to Plastic Ono Band for me, now. Love it. Love it. It's perfect. I even like the little speaking parts, though I totally get what you mean, lol!

That intro pitched somebody I know into a very severe unipolar depressive illness, which lasted approximately 7 months & resulted in several suicide attempts as well as a period of hospitalization.

Musically speaking, that's the wrong order at which to come at Fleetwood Mac. You did it ass-backwards. It might have ruined your appreciated for a well-crafted track or an unusual production job.

Jen! I was about to send you a little e-mail to announce this to you because I know you've been wondering when I was going to get a clue and get the thing! I'm so happy I did. Sometimes I buy CDs and wonder why they had to cost nearly twenty dollars after I listened to them and wasn't terribly impressed but this time I know I got something worth every penny! (And it was on sale for 13 bucks and that's always nice).

And now it's your turn to get Mirage. Or I can just send you "Oh Diane" and "Can't Go Back" lol. No, no you have to get it sometime. I think you'd like the Stevie songs on it that you haven't heard. And "Can't Go Back" is one of my favorite Lindsey songs, though there's a lot of competition for that now!

I like Amazon but there is nothing like going to a store and rushing back home to open it and pop it in your player. God I miss those days!
Anyway, glad to hear that you are enjoying OOTC.

Hey, I screwed up a lot more than she did. I started out on TISL and then Timespace. How weird is that?

Your friend? Sad. But def. not LB's fault.

As for getting into Fleetwood Mac the way I did... What can I say? I only became interested in Stevie because of her collaborations with Tom Petty. Then only found out that she was in Fleetwood Mac shortly before the '97 reunion.
Before that she was just "that blonde chick that sang with Tom."

BTW, I was all of 16 years old when The Dance first aired.

Definitely. I will get the album. It's on my list, believe me. I'm so happy you really like the album. I think it's perfect...and I'm even happier you got it on sale. Now you have a Lindsey solo item!!! (aside from GOS tracks)...yay!! I have to email you soon so I can see what you think.

I remember when I first got OOTC. It was after I bought the Dance and was completely bowled over by Lindsey's talent. I loved OOTC so much that I bought both Law and Order and Go Insane at the local Best Buy a week later. I didn't like this as much, but I'm still glad I got them. Lindsey rules!

That's how I feel! I'm overwhelmed by him. There are so many different things going on in this album. This is how I felt when I first heard the GOS songs, too.

Gift of Screws and OOTC and Go Insane and Law & Order are like night and day. Very, very different. GOS and OOTC are much more introspective whereas the first two albums are quirky and experimental. So you might not like them or at least not as much.

Go Insane was the first LB solo album I ever got. I didn't know anything about his solo work so I chose Go Insane because I thought I knew the title song (from the Dance performance, but let me tell you, the live version and the album version are two very different songs). Then I got the other two.

Thanks for the info. Well, I do know that I like "Johnny Stew" (not just the moderator but the song, too), though not as much as the GOS and OOTC stuff.

On a similar note, I've always wondered why so many people seem to hate "September Song," which I haven't heard yet. Maybe I'll know when I hear it.

If you like "Johnny Stew," you might like his first two albums then.
I wasn't aware that people hate "September Song." It certainly isn't one of Lindsey's best songs, but I really like the way his voice sounds on it.

I just remember some thread at some point (that narrows it down! ) in which people were talking about what they thought were his worst songs and people were debating whether "Family Man" was better or worse than "September Song." Some people were saying that he never should've done "September Song."

Well, to each their own I guess. The only Lindsey song that I truly don't like is "Oh Diane." The lyrics are inane, the music is bland, and even his wonderful voice can't save it.
