Don't you dare! I'm with Jen -- dark hair, blue eyes? You're a rarity. DON'T, YOU IDIOT! Smurf**** blue -- lovely. How in the hell do you get hard contacts into (and out of) your eyes and why in the world do you prefer them?

I always think it's striking when darker folks have light eyes, so I'm having trouble picturing it as a bad thing.

My hair isn't that dark. Not compared to my parents' and brother's. In my mind I'm still the little kid with blond hair, Charlie in the candy factory.
I've worn hard lenses (well, gas perm these days - I miss the old glass ones they don't make anymore) for almost 33 years. They were a bar mitzvah gift when I was twelve. I wore a temporary soft one for a week a few years ago and HATED it. The bending, the fragility, the huge lens going into the eye. Yuck.

Poor guy. Didn't Toni Morrison write The Brownest Eye for him?

I still think it's hysterical that you were blond while the rest of your family has darker hair.

Congrats on the bar mitzvah -- here's some contacts, kid Don't your eyes get dry with them in? I wear special contacts so my eyes can take more oxygen in -- I was having some issues with lines forming. I can't imagine having something hard in my eye.

Strangers thought I was adopted. My mom got sick of it & started frosting her hair in the '70s (somehow I guess she thought it looked natural )
and that's when my hair started getting darker. I was rebelling from the start.

You rebel, you. Well do you at least look sort of look like them now? I think I looked more like my parents when I was a child. Ask Meredith how much I look like NO ONE in my entire family. My mother has long blond hair (it's not as blond as it used to be--she frosted too), is a few inches shorter than me (i'm Sasquatch compared to her) and my dad is my height (maybe an inch taller), a little heavy with curly dark brown hair (grey as well -- and he's balding a little too).

I don't look like my parents, but I look like all four grandparents - especially both grandfathers - and none of them look anything alike.
Supposedly I look a lot like my mother's father's father, followed by my mother's father.

Michelle, thanks. Remember, I later make an appearance in a red dress on a piano a year later
