With the covers she's been doing on this tour, i've no doubt in my mind that she'd put Martha to shame with an incredible rendition Everytime I listen to the song, I think about how amazing she'd be--she certainly has the voice for it.

Sorry, but my mind is brimming with songs I'd love Stevie to cover, and I have to say I'd also love to hear:

Blue Bayou, ala Linda Rondstadt
Lilac Wine, by Jeff Buckley (so sad he died)
and, I almost feel bad saying it, because Annie Lennox is incredible...but Stevie would sound great singing Stay By Me

I know what you me with Stay With Me (that's why i initially put Keep on ROcking) but i would LOVE to see Stevie *try* this song. NUTHING will top Bette's Diva Las Vegas version but i would still like to see Stevie try it. SWM was my favorite Bette song live until i saw her do When a Man Loves a Woman the other month WOAH!!

ps - dissention when i lurked, your posts were probably my favorite and to see your a Bette fan, you've become even more likeable lol
Aw, thank you, and yes, I am a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge Bette fan (case in point: I rushed out and bought the new DVD that came out on Tuesday at nine in the morning!)! She's the only one that I'll drop almost a grand on to see live. She's tops for me. Kiss My Brass was the most spectacular show I've ever seen; she's got the energy of a 15 year old.

I love the Diva version, but I'm still partial to the Divine Madness one, too. Her voice is completely shot from being sick as a dog with pneumonia, but somehow it makes the song even better. The Art or Bust version is great (My Eye On You being the BEST on that vid, it gives me chills), also, but I loathe the dress she wears when she sings it.

Anyway, I'll stop gushing for now.

true

one note, though, I saw The Motels on that horrible "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and I got a strange Stevie-esque feel from her AND she still sounds great

She'd probably do a good version, but c'mon now.

Martha still sounds fantastic to this day. Her last solo album is a real treasure if you haven't heard it. I think she sold it exclusively on her site.

Looks like we both thought of Janis at the same time. I love KB but I'm tired of Stevie doing all these slow songs.

While I do think she's amazing, Stevie is really vocally strong at present and I think she would do the song justice.

I saw Hit Me Baby One More Time--I can't remember what song they chose to cover but she didn't sound so good on it

I don't think she'd be able to pull off the vocal quirks or completely immerse herself in it like Martha, but that's just me. It's one of those songs I don't think anyone should cover because the original is good enough.

LOL I think she sounds great. She was also on Bands Reunited and made my jaw drop because she was so good. I'd kill to see The Motels live. I know they've been doing shows in California for quite awhile now, but I don't think they've toured nationally, which is a shame. Chalk up a new album on my wish list, too.
