Exclamation Wow!!

I can answer this thread now! LOL!!

My aunt gave me a book for my birthday, Monster by Frank Perretti. He's a great supernatural thriller writer. I tried reading his book This Present Darkness when I was a teen, but I couldn't get into it and didn't understand it really. I probably should try that one again. This Monster book is excellent! I have four more chapters to go and everything is blowing up right now, it's very exciting!

I don't read much, but I should get into a habit of doing so. I used to write a lot too....now, not at all.

Yay, I saw Monster-In-Law, too! On the drive back from vacation. I totally loved it, J Lo finally made a good movie. How could I possibly pass up J Fo versus J Lo? I'll tell you, I almost passed out from laughter when she was slamming Lopez's head into that cake. Jeezum crow. Wanda Sykes almost stole the show, though, she's hilarious. And Michael Vartan is hot hot hot.

So far it's very good. Most celeb autobiographies are utter **** because they take themselves so seriously and think they're perfect, but she doesn't. She's a fantastic writer, too, I was pretty surprised. The sections on the seventies are very interesting and entertaining, as are the ones on the fifties where she talks about her first contract. You'll like it if you like Fonda.

That's probably it. I've never read Potter, so I wouldn't know.

It is, indeed, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!!

Anyway I have to say my favorite moment of MIL was when Fonda lunged at the tennybopper chick at the beginning - that KILLED me!!!!

It was a great flick - once I got over my embarrassment of actually paying money to see a J Lo movie

I agree, Wanda Sykes (who I usually don't like too much) was funny as hell....the movie was enjoyable

I can't wait to read the autobio...it's third on my "waitingn to be read" list.

Wow. I'm really surprised that you liked it so much. There must be something to it, then. It's just that I stay away from romantic comedies with J Lo these days as a rule (and most romantic comedies in general) and I cannot stand Wanda Sykes. Maybe she's different in this movie, but I think she's one of the most unfunny people ever. It's like people think she's funny because she's a black woman...well I have to say that I live around tons of them and the vast majority of them are funnier than she is. Ugh, here I go with generalizations.

I used to love Wanda on the Chris Rock show. Especially around the election in 2000.

I didn't mind Monster-in-Law. I went to see it for Michael Vartan, who is my boyfriend. Thet movie was made worthwhile for me simply for that shirtless sweaty running down the beach thing. The fact that the rest of it didn't completely blow was icing on the cake.

Hillary - I hate her as well *edit: wanda Sykes** - but oddly enjoyed her in the movie She's not as dumb and obnoxious as she usually is - I don't know - J Lo didn't grate on my nerves too badly in the movie either....but the big draw for me was Jane Fonda...so....

It wasn't the best movie ever - not even as far as romantic comedies go and if I had it to do over again I would not have paid full night-time movie price for it - but it was entertaining for sure

Yay, I've wanted to read that since I saw her on letterman a few weeks back. She is amazing, I love her now. So articulate and intelligent.

Oooh, that sounds like good reading.

I'm reading a book of essays by David Sedaris (humorist, playwright, NPR dude) called "Me Talk Pretty One Day." This guy is so f*cking funny I had to put the book down periodically because I was laughing so hard that tears were running down my face making it impossible to read any further. He also has a book called "Naked" that I plan to read after this one.

Okay a couple of the essays had me completely ROLLING!!! The one about his brother, who dubbed himself "The Rooster" had me in stitches! I also liked the one about his first academic teaching job. I'm not completely through it yet so I'm sure more hilarity awaits.

Have you read "Running with Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs? If you like Sedaris, I'd recommend Augusten if you haven't read him. "Running With Scissors," "Dry," "Magical Thinking," and "Sellevision" are AWESOME, and kinda in the same vein.
