I usually say(when I'm 100% sure), "I'll bet you $100, right now!" I stick out my hand, to shake on it, and won't retract it! "C'mon, $100, right now!" That usually makes them realize that there's a chance they might be wrong.
Good thing for me that I'm always right!

That's right, it's Stevie Nicks' Fleetwood Mac....not Peter Green. Duh...we are so dumb...us Ledgies.

With the whole "You weren't born yet." logic, how do we know Abraham Lincoln was shot by Booth...we weren't born yet, so we can't know that information. Stupid people.

I went to Best Buy one time and was looking at FM albums, an employee came up to me and said "You like Fleetwood Mac? You're too young to like FM." I was like "They're my favorite group, I love them. And btw, I'm 27 years old." He goes "Well, you're still too young. I remember listening to them when I was in the Army back in the 70's." Goody for you, here's a doggy bone. Now, can you tell me who sings Black Magic Woman? LOL I didn't say that, but I should have. He probably would have said, "Santana."

Sigh....people are dumb.
I know exactly what you mean. I'm 16 years old and people at my school think I'm a flaming retard for liking Fleetwood Mac and the other kinda music I like. They think it's "old" and older people should be listening to them.

This kid in Spanish today was asking me what songs they sang and of course I said Landslide and Don't Stop since he wouldn't know anything else. He then insisted that he didn't know the songs, even though the girl next to him started singing Don't Stop, and then the girl next to me asked if they sang "that white wing dove song" I of course then had to fill her in.

I also hate how kids my age are stereotyped for liking that rap music and being such screw ups. Whenever I have a Mac shirt on I always have adults giving me funny looks. I'm really starting to get annoyed by it. GAWD.

But sweetie, all kids who are your age are a bunch of screw-ups who listen to rap music.

I've told this story before, but as I've demonstrated many times around here before, I'm not above repeating myself.

We had a student teacher in my art class when I was about 16 years old. It was a well-known fact that I was a Mac/Stevie fan and the subject somehow came up in class. Said student teacher told me he LOVED Fleetwood Mac, and they were one of his all-time favorite bands. I was suitably impressed, of course, but then he boasted, "I even have 'Mystery To Me' on vinyl -- you know, the first album Stevie ever recorded with them."

I explained to him that Stevie wasn't on 'MTM'... that the album was released in 1973 -- two years before Stevie and Lindsey recorded their first album with the band.

He argued that Lindsey joined the band in '75, but that Stevie was already working with them. I told him that Christine was on 'MTM,' and perhaps he had her and Stevie confused. He said he didn't, then proceeded to rattle off the titles of several of Stevie's songs (none of which were on 'Mystery To Me,' by the way. ).

He then told me, "I'm going to bring my copy of 'MTM' in tomorrow and prove it to you!"

Danged if he never mentioned it ever again.

Another funny incident was with the photographer who was taking my senior pictures. We were allowed to bring in our own music to listen to during the session, so I brought in 'Other Side Of The Mirror.'
He told me how much he LOVED Stevie, but always preferred her work with Jefferson Airplane.

Despite my attempt to politely correct him, he absolutely insisted it was Stevie, not Grace Slick, who was in Jefferson Airplane.

One of the things that makes this incident so hysterical is that an entire decade later when Josh (Josh2003) had his senior photos taken by the same photographer, they had the same Stevie Nicks/Grace Slick conversation!

These days I mostly just smile and say, "ok," when people have their Mac-related facts all mixed up.

I had something kind of funny happen at work today. I was taking to a coworker and he is always busting me about liking and following Fleetwood Mac around. Well, he had his radio on softly but I could hear Stevie’s voice on Landslide clear as a bell. So I stop and I kind of point to the radio as if to say "OK. I know that you have something to say". So he looks at me and says 'what"? I say it's Stevie and well it's Fleetwood Mac actually. He tells me that it's The Dixie Chicks. I had to explain to him that yes The Dixie Chicks did cover that song but the version now playing was Fleetwood Mac's. He looks at me like I have 8 heads. He tells me that he thought The Dixie Chicks did the song originally. So needless to say I had to explain that Fleetwood Mac did the song in 1975, Stevie wrote it and the band performed it on the Dance which is where that single came from. Then he tells me 'gee and I like that song, too' as if to say " hey. I like Fleetwood Mac and I don't even know it.

I always have problems with people in their late twenties, it seems. I've encountered a lot of people around that age who were under the impression that they had the wisdom of a person in his or her seventies. They have this attitude like I'm 28 and you're merely 22, so I know oh so much more about the world than you do. This is really, really annoying, to say the least. Sometimes I really want to tell those people that most of my friends are in their fifties and are far more mature than they are, so it would be nice if they'd get off their high horses. My older friends always say they were jackasses when they were in their mid to late twenties; they were convinced that they just had everything figured out at that point. I hope that doesn't happen to me. I can't stand to be condescended to so I dont't want to start condescending to others.

Oh, now I can't resist.

"Don't.........condescend to me.....Take your leave......Take your leave...."

I don't have any FM stories in relation to this topic; I'm being more abstract, basically. I've run into a lot of people who think that there old age of 27, 28, 29 or so has revealed to them all the secrets of life and how to live it and such.

Exclamation Freaky...

Pattie, as I came here to read your post.....Landslide (Dance) was playing.

Freaky.

I'm sure lots of dopes think The Dixie Chicks wrote it.

I will be 29 next month and I STILL haven't lived. LOL I have learned a lot of stuff and especially from mistakes. When I turned 26, something clicked in me and I changed. I'm not sure WTH happened, but it was something. I feel like I wasn't an adult, until that moment.

That's pretty lame. Luckily, I'm thirty, so I just escaped your category!
but yeah, we do think we know **** at this age. But I've thought that since I was 8, so is it really an age thing? JK - I don't understand people who argue very much in the face of obvious evidence to the contrary. I mean, I'll argue till my face turns blue, but I usually recognize when I don't have all the evidence and all the knowledge (nevah from SW excepted).
on a different note, I'm listening to "Real Tears", and it kind of sucks. but not as bad as it could...

Yeah, I'm not big on "Real Tears" myself. I have it on a CD somewhere and I never listen to it. But I don't think of Ledgies in the way that I was saying. Christy, par example, is in the age category I was talking about and she's nothing like that at all. Not that I haven't met some jackasses on the internet who act like that, but I won't name names.

Yeah, Christy is not like that. I, myself, am, but not about Mac. Ancient Mysteries? I'm all over your ass. History? AOYA. Sociology, economics? AOYA!!! Astrology? yep, All Over Your Ass. But those things are useless, here, so I am humble. *bows head*

Those things are not useless. And you are never haughty, uppity, condescending, or anything like that. You are way too nice for any of that.
