Now, I love Gold Dust Woman and never would wish it to be gone from a setlist, but I wish they would tone down the theatrics on this one. Do it nice and simple like back in the day. Howl all you want and scream to your hearts content, but stop with the dramatic gestures and facial distortions and cheesy lighting.

I totally agree with you. All three of these songs could totally rock if they would just retool a few things. These are gems that need new life and energy. It's so sad to see good songs grow tired!

Exactly!

It's as if the band thinsk they're putting on a Broadway show where everything has to be just right and the same thing every night. Can the dramatics and showy gestures; concentrate on puring your heart into these songs. And if you can't put any more of your heart into these songs because you've done them all to death, go back to your catalog and pick some new stuff to do!

Little Lies live? Ugh. Back when they were rehearsing in Hartford for the first night of The Dance, they worked on it and then they decided it stunk, so they dropped it.

I forgot about Stevie's solo shows. I'm a sucker for I Need To Know, but I wish she'd axe SDMHA too. And get rid of the bongo & guitar solos at the beginning of Edge of Seventeen. Just go straight into the song!

I'll likely be KILLED for this, but I tend to agree with Stevie that Sara doesn't do well live. On boots, it sounds either really dragging or the tempo is sped up too fast. That's not to say I wouldn't be excited if they did it on the next leg, if only cuz it's become such a rarity, but I'll take the demos or the (extended) album version any day.

Well...I won't kill you...but I'll just say that I LOVE the song live, studio, demo...whatever. And I would die happy (I would anyways) if they added it to the next leg since I have friggin tickets (I'm more excited...not that you wouldn't be...than some of you FM vets because this will be my first FM concert!)...but we all know they won't since the song is so personal. You gotta love the soloing(sp?) that Lindsey does on the live version from the Tusk doc. It has that "it" factor about it.

Anyways....the only song I can think of that's bad live is Peacekeeper. Now I absolutely love this song...probably more than lots of you...but it just doesn't work live. Lindsey can't sing it and do his guitar stuff.

I've always been curious about the choice of Everywhere as TITN's representative on The Dance. Was there an article about this or was it somehwere else? I'll have a look through the BLA.

I get the Hartford Courant delivered and have the old article here somewhere, maybe I'll be able to dig it up. There was also one where a reporter asked Stevie whether she liked Hartford and she said she didn't know because she doesn't roam the streets of Hartford.

I can just imagine how she would say that. It reminds me of what she said at the first Brisbane concert: "Welcome, everyone. We, um, don't really know any of you here in Brisbane, so..yeah. Thank you!" lol or something like that.

I'll have the video of that in digital form eventually. About 25 mins worth of that concert.

Still having difficulties with all those PG era live releases.

The only set, the Ultrasound Studios recording that I’ve heard of the Welch era line-up has no weak spots in it, IMO.

1975-82:

”Station Man” – Lindsey and Stevie may have improved it a bit but it’s still too plodding.

“Dreams” – I actually like it live but it’s always been a bit of a disappointment when compared to the studio take.

“Over And Over” – loses some of the good languid qualities of the studio version.

“Hold Me” – didn’t work back then but maybe now it could somehow with some extra musicians.

With Billy & Rick:

“Everywhere” – and even the original is the closest to housewife music FM has ever got to.

“The Chain”, “Isn’t It Midnight”, “Go Your Own Way” – sorry boys, but your parts sound uninvolved to me. They did do a killer “Don’t Let Me Down Again” though.

“World Turning” – from 1987 onwards. Any good playing in the song itself is ruined when Mick the DJ starts his innovative effect revolution.

Post Post-Rumours:

“Over My Head” – sounds totally inoffensive on the Dance.

“Gold Dust Woman” – I agree with Dissention on the theatrics. But if she wanted to do it like in the old days, wouldn’t she have to have a “headful of snow” again?

“Gypsy” – I love the Mirage tour version, this one isn’t up to it.

“Peacekeeper” – in major agreement with the most. And I wasn’t too hot on the studio version in the first place.

There aren't too many that I actually dislike live; most of them I'm just sick to death of hearing every single time they step foot on the stage. But that is another thread.

From this tour, I agree with everyone about Peacekeeper. I love the studio version but it is lousy live. And I agree about Say You Will. Of all the Stevie songs on SYW, she has to play that as one of her 2 new contributions? Ugh. Bring back Destiny Rules!

I loathe anything that gives Mick the room to do his drum solo, so World Turning and Not That Funny come up on my hit list.

Rhiannon does need to be retired, but I'm going to sit by myself in the "Fan of Dreams Live" train. That song is Fleetwood Mac to me, and I love hearing it everytime. (Even though it has never lived up to the studio version and never will.)

Stevie solo? Good God, woman, get a new encore song other than I Need To Know! I also don't like Enchanted, but I don't really know why.

Dreams. She just seems like she is going through the motions on this one. It will never be dropped because it was their biggest hit.

Silver Springs. Sorry I am just sick of this song.

Stand Back. I am kind of mixed on this one. If it was dropped I would not cry.

I wish that she would bring back Sisters of the Moon!!

I'd like to see a Lindsey solo song. Maybe Trouble or Holiday Road.
