So... let me get this straight. Stevie's management turned down this movie because it was weird?

I don't blame you, some of these comments seem too irrational.

I don't understand why Stevie's management wouldn't want the songs in the movie. I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe that Stevie didn't know about it -- I mean, surely with the exposure on the Stevie Nicks' Fan Club episode and all, she would of known about it by now. I hope to God that Stevie didn't turn it down, it's theme is strongly tied to her. It isn't the Night Of A Thousand Dollys or Night Of A Thousand Chers now is it? I'm sure they would of jumped on the chance to have their music in a movie that worships them that much. I really hope she didn't turn it down for the reason everyone thinks she did, cause I don't think of Stevie as being...dare I say without being flamed...ignorant?

If you're judging the movie based on characters who like to dress like Stevie, why would you like Stevie? Back in the day, she *was* a tad goth. She wore a black wedding dress, for cripes sake. When you start adding platform boots, black lace, shawls, and black bustiers to your wardrobe, you run the risk of being called that.
Well I am not judging the movie, I am just saying that I understand why Stevie would have turned down the chance to have her music in this movie. I am still very intrested in seeing it.

And I am very sorry that I have that image of gothic people in my head. My friends kill me whenever I make comments like that.

Also, I don't like how, if I am reading the summary of the movie correctly, this would further the beleif that all of Stevie's male fans are gay. An article this summer came out saying how FM fans are feminine men, and I don't like that stereotype. I don't know how it got started in the first place. It makes Stevie sound like Cher.

First of all, Stevie has fans all across the board: straight, gay, bisexual, transexual, metrosexual, trisexual, whatever...

Secondly, I seriously doubt that if a guy were to tell somebody that he is a Stevie Nicks fan, the other one would assume that he is gay. I mean, we're not talking about Barbra here and I'm pretty sure even she has some straight male fans!

And finally, please, gay does NOT equal feminine! However it DOES equal great taste which is why I'm such a huge Stevie fan!

Well calm down. I am sorry if I am speaking my mind instead of worrying about being politically correct. And I have nothing against gothic people, however, I am sorry to say that I can't get that stereotype out of my head. Plain and simple.

See, this is exactly what I am talking about. I don't beleive that people think Stevie fans are all feminine, but if movies like this come out, then people might think of her as a Barbra or a Cher, and I think Stevie is so much better then that. Like you said, she has fans all across the board, and I want people to know that and not put her in the same cat. as Barbra.

It's isn't speaking your mind, it's ignorance.

Based what you said, you'd have to know that the character portrayed in the film is "feminine." But honestly, what would be the big deal if people believed that male Stevie fans are feminine? Does it bother you? Does it take away from the music? It sounds to me like it's a very poor rationale.

Well wouldn't Stevie or Stevie's people be just as ignorant? They had no problem having several of her songs played on the comedy Practical Magic a few years ago, so why do they have a problem with script?

Does anyone know for a fact exactly what problems there were or is it all speculation?

But it's an untrue stereotype. While drinking at a sports bar last week, I was telling a girl I was talking to that I was a big FM fan. Some stranger on the other side of her overheard me and said, "So what gay bar do you hang out at?". He then immediately apologized when he thought he might get his assed kicked.
