I guess I can say the same thing about Tusk. Mick may only see the male organ and it's there, but I think the title would include all of the pain, jealousy, desire, power, powerlessness and sense of emasculation that comes along with it, when there's a battle to be the one on the throne and on the phone.

I completely agree with that. Sure he'll sing about his equipment, but he also sings about all the issues that have come with it over the years for himself.

Probably true. He felt liberated after leaving the Mac and it probably expressed itself in his visual endeavours as well as his lyrical and musical. It's how alot of people rebel when they're trapped in constraints or suddenly faced with freedom after a long while of being boxed in. They want to break the mould and look different. I used to have hair down to my bottom, but a few years ago after leaving Sixth Form the first thing I did was go out and have my hair cut to my ears. Just to say "this is the new me and I'm not trapped by that nonsense any longer". I'm regrowing it and its past the middle of my back now, but the statement was there. I felt liberated. I even got my eyebrow pierced just because I wasn't allowed to at school

His hair seems to be like that in the inside picture in OOTC, when he has his back to the camera and is sitting in front of the recording console.

I remember discussing the rhyming frenzy in Wait For You and someone taking offense at the idea of "god with a rod" having a phallic meaning. Obviously, it refers to an angry God reaching down from the blustery sky to punish with a lightning rod, but I am positive that Lindsey was aware of the double entendre as well and I think he intended it. It's not why he used the phrase, but it gave it an intentional twist.

It's just like the GOS title. Yes, he meant what the poem says, but when his sister-in-law thought "screws" referred to the sexual act, I know that her mentioning that is not the first time it occurred to Lindsey. He got a little satisfaction out of her being a bit dismayed -- at least his smile when he relayed the story suggested to me that he did.

He does seem like the type would use a lot of double entenders in his songs, similar to Bon Scott (the original lead singer of AC/DC), which you could see in The Jack and Big Balls (I dare you to listen to it with a straight face)

And wait a second...you met Lindsey? When? What was he like? Did you meet Stevie too?

No, I've never met Lindsey. I've only been to his concerts. I was talking about what he said about his sister-in-law's reaction to the title Gift of Screws during one of his concerts and I was talking about the Wait For You discussions here on the Ledge.

I met him. He's very down to earth and a super nice guy.

Yes. Perfectly described. Remember, Lindsey is an Elvis Costello fan:

I'm glad you like the pics. I found the second one last week and I immediately thought of how similar the Tango era pic was. I think it's interesting that he looks down more in current pics than he did in earlier pics.

Do it!

I thought about a moon but that is too Stevie - would rather have something Bucky.

Think I'll add a "tusk" to my list of considerations. Mmmmm, liking it, it's quite naughty!
