Yes, Marc Bolan had mucho talent...Sucks that ya never hear him mention at all today. Btw, I need to find some T-Rex to add to my collection of music.

Matter of fact, Here's some interesting Marc Bolan handwritten prose that ya might find interesting:

Marc Bolan: Marc's Handwritten Prose: Rockmine On-Line

Another band that wouldve been huge had the lead singer not overdosed days before the release of their first full length album is Mother Love Bone. Yeah, they may have been from San Diego (via Seattle) but grunge they were not. MLB were equal parts Queen/T-Rex/Led Zep/Guns N Roses, And had Andrew Wood lived he would have been a "rock star" along the lines of the greats...But alas he passed away after a heroin overdose.

Trivial question-Who was Andrew Wood's former roommate? Hint-He was the singer/guitarist for a major Seattle "grunge" band.

Wow, thanks for posting that link Brian! And I feel a sense of mysterious pride that you know AND like Marc Bolan.

And you're so right about Andrew Wood/Mother Love Bone. Wood was such a quintessential rock star waiting to happen and the....gone. I'll take a crack at your trivia question and guess...Mark Arm of Mudhoney??

Y'all should check out Rolan Bolan, son of Marc. He is fantastic! I listened to his CD non-stop in the car for like 2 months, everyone I play it for loves it!

Thanks for posting, that's great to know! I saw him interviewed for a T-Rex dvd, but I didn't know he was a muscician himself. He has the same soulful eyes him dad had. *sigh*

Yeah, he was recently on a "kids of rock stars" special on Entertainment TV, or VH1 or something....I met him at SXSW a few years ago. He gave me a demo CD and signed it for me. It's in a plain jewel case with no artwork. We just started a random conversation at the Continental Club. He wasn't even doing a showcase there, he was there to see Kris Kristofferson and Shooter Jennings, I had no idea who he was until he told me. Very cool, and down to earth guy!

Ha! I just found him on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/rolanbolan
Cool! New stuff I haven't heard yet!!

Marc Bolan is cool in my books.

As for the answer to my question "Trivial question-Who was Andrew Wood's former roommate? Hint-He was the singer/guitarist for a major Seattle "grunge" band."

Hell, Dream Theater toured with Yes in 2004 as Yes' special guests and many old-timers were suprised by DT musical prowess.

Gimme progressive rock & progressive metal and I am a happy guy!!!
Prog metal rules! I've gotta listen to some Dream Theater, I've heard great things lately from many people.

I missed it! So thanks for the bump.

Hmmmm....lemme think. I work in a college health office, so I don't get too many really urgent or scary things, but here's some gross stuff.

*One girl complained of eye pain. We put dye in her eye (the dye will be darker on injuries/scratches) & looked at it under the special lamp - there was a straight line going right down the center of her eye. Turns out she had an eyelash bothering her so she tried to remove it. WITH A STRAIGHT PIN. A-Hole.

*Kid came in with a pulse of about 160 & abnormal EKG. Didn't want us to send him to the ER cuz he had been doing coke all night & thought we would call the cops. Idiot.

*Warning against wearing flip-flops - girl came in with blood gushing from her toe. She had flip flops on, and when she opened a door, the bottom of the door caught on her big toenail & tore it partway off. So it was ripped off the nailbed, but still attached enough that it wouldn't come right off, sticking straight up in the air. The provider had to numb the area by injecting lidocaine under the nail *shudder* and go under the nail & cut it off the bed with scissors. They always taught us in school not to let a patient know that something's grossing you out or upsetting you. I had a really hard time with that one.

*We get lots of kids that cut off the tips of their fingers, or accidentally stab themselves with knives. It's usually while cutting food, but the architecture students work with utility knives a lot when building models so it's pretty common for them. It's a running joke that an arch. student won't have any fingertips left by the time they're done with school.

*Oooh! Nice recent one - some kid got drunk & passed out one night. So his friends decided to heat up a fork with a lighter & brand his arm with it. Gross. 2nd & 3rd degree burns, it's not healing at all, the kid thinks it's funny. Yeah, you'll be laughing your ass off when you go through skin grafts, jerk.

*Girl got elbowed in the face playing field hockey & bit her tongue. It bifurcated (sp) & looked like a snake tongue. Yeah, we sent her to the ER.

My first CD was Sheryl Crow's Tuesday Night Music Club...must've been 1994.

The most embarrassing CD I've ever owned, though I don't currently own it, would probably be Mariah Carey's Music Box. Ugh. How my taste has changed...

Okay - here is the deal - unless you are by the fukcing pool - DO NOT WEAR FLIP FLOPS - I hate when people wear them out to bars or restaurants - it is a fashion don't

Of course mine are Ferragamo

I love the new flip flops Crocs. I am a big flip flop person. I don't like to be barefoot ever, but don't like the hassle of socks and shoes. I have 4 pair of Old Navy ff, 1 pair of Gap, 1 pair of Banana Republic and 1 pair of Gucci.
