And I know that we have people with conservative leanings on this board who are capable of being respectful of the members of the GLBT community. I know that those conservative leaders are complete homophobes but we don't have to talk about that unfortunate aspect of their personalities. Also, if someone wants to talk about Coulter, for example, and I just think she's a beeyotch and I don't want to discuss her (which would be true) then I don't have to participate in the thread.
Exactly. Just because I like Coulter, you wouldn't jump down my throat and get all angry...it's our freedoms and you respect that, and that is awesome!

sorta off topic...

Just read where Harding University, who hired Ann to speak at there college, canceled due to some Alumni complaining that all of her views weren't Christian...this is Ann's latest blog on the situation...

I'm afraid they leave me no choice . . . - I'm going to have to invade Harding University, kill its leaders, and then convert them to Christianity.

This is one of the reasons I love her...she has humor about situations like this!

hehe...oh well back on topic.

I admit I don't think Chris is a dolt. I actually think she's pretty smart. And I don't think she'd go around deleting 100% of the conservative threads.

I do think her deletion of those threads, though, was a result of liberal bias. In fact I think that's pretty evident. That disturbs me.

Well, I don't agree with what he's been saying for the past hour or whatever, but I really respect the fact that he apparently does understand the misery and frustration in the GLBT community. I'm with him on that; I just don't think it applies to this issue. But I just thought I needed to point out that his empathy is very much appreciated.

I think there are other issues here besides the deletion of that thread.

As is pretty much always the case, I am with Krista, my significant other.

I essentially asked what those other things were earlier and you didn't respond. Care to clue me in to what they might be?

Hey, I've seen in my own family what the death of child does to a person. If her rage, anger, and grief are half of what they've been for my relatives, it's honestly easy for me to see why she's acting this way. In her situation, there is no logic, just basic, raw, primal emotions. See it for what it REALLY is. It's much easier to understand it than to be critical of it. Is it inhumane to challenge her statements? Yes. Not because of her feelings, but because of what it says about us. I'd like to think we're better than that.

Yet really no more limited than in any other situation in life. We can't just walk into someone's home and do and say whatever we want. We can't stroll into a library, take off all of our clothes, and curse at everyone who walks past us.

There are rules that govern our behaviour in society, and it's no different here on the Ledge.

I've certainly seen message boards that were far stricter, where the webmasters and/or moderators banned users simply because of a personality clash.

Even if I weren't a moderator, I'd say we have a pretty sweet setup here, with a great deal of freedom. Something that is often taken for granted.

Wellllllllllllll (as Stevie would say when she doesn't know exactly what else to say) I don't think I'm ready to get into a big discussion about it (and that's just a general statement--not directed at you) but I have problems with

this--http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=22065

and this--http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=22097

That should give a general idea, anyway.

So is one who's lost a child permitted to disagree with Sheehan publicly?

Ok...now I'm really just thinking you are in your own little world now!

So you think that it is inhumane to challenge this lady's statements?

WHAT THE FLYING F*CK!

She lost a son...yes I get that...horrible! But now she is all loopy making statements such as the original topic I brought up...That hurricane Katrina was Bush's fault! And you're telling me that it is wrong of us to challange statements like that...To be a liberal you really are not much a fan of the 1st amendment are you?

To say that Hurricane Katrina was Bush's fault, to me, is just as insane as saying that it was the fault of the "sinners" down there in the gulf!

So I think that we should be able to challenge statements like that!
