Remember when we were sitting there and the a capella part at the end came off sooooooooooo great - I STILL get chills listening to it.

Her voice sounds sooo good in it - she sounds a lot like it is 1983 again

It's good, but nowhere near as good as some of the '83 versions. She sung it with gusto back then.

True. It was a lot more peppy than anything I'd seen in a while, though. And not trying to sound like a cliche' but you had to be there...

I love how she ad libbed a little - you had to be there - I thought she might levitate a la the WH tour while singing it - and the a capella live - OY - that is why I love her live.

It wasn't so much that as she came out in a purple velvet cape and as someone has said before, her every move was filled with drama. This was her first real full tour. Unfortunately, it was 1984 ans she was out with Joe Walsh, one of the most notorious partiers of all time. And being that it was the wild 80's, she indulged in that. No one even thought twice about that, in fact, they expected it. More power to her. Vocally, she was not that strong, she had her moments though. She sang in a soft voice but her stage presence was very dramatic. It was just her presence. Watch the Landover boot and you'll get what I mean. Do you ever remember seeing her on Solid Gold doing Stand Back? That pretty much says it all. Stevie played the part of the consummate rock star during those years and rightfully so.

I have to say that other than the SNL and Solid Gold performances, I do not like the other vocals I have heard from that tour, though she was the dramatic one.

We all hear so differently. When she sang "Stand Back" at the Forum that year, I never heard such a powerful vocal from her at any other time. Even the L.A. Times critic who reviewed the show (who was decidedly negative about her in general) said that she "whipped things up into a truly impressive, tremulous frenzy." I've never seen the whole arena get so excited about "Stand Back" as that night -- much more so than all the other Stevie solo & Fleetwood tours. And then "How Still My Love" started & oh my God! The whole place was floored.

then you're lucky, strand, because there isn't much high-quality stuff to listen to from that year.

But your "Stevie Nicks" is definitely different from my "Stevie Nicks"! More fans nowadays love the "Aunt Stevie" thing going on than the sultry chick of yore ... all these different Stevies wafting around, generation after generation.
