I want payback against Brazil for the 2002 final! Those damn Brazilians!

Ah well, Brazil have a couple of games to win before the final, starting with this one against France, which is underway now. 0-0 so far, and quite even. If they beat France, they have to beat Portugal to reach the final... I would fancy Germany to beat Brazil though, unless Brazil find their magic at some stage

I certainly hope youre right my friend. Maybe things are falling into place for Germany to win it.

I totally agree with what you said. Argentina is a bit more "intimidating" than Italy, but nevertheless Italy is a *very* strong opponent!

And David... "outplayed"? "things [just] falling into place for Germany" ?? I'm getting more and more desperate the more you say! Where's the confidence and the fighting spirit? One more statement like this and Chancellor Merkel will personally stop you from ever setting foot on German soil! German fan? Ah, the shame!!

It's always dangerous to underrate Italy, we tend to give our best in those situations... but it would be a very tough match, hope the best will win and that won't' be 90 minutes played on nerves. Brasil was really unwatchable tonight, but I'm sorry they lost. David, are you sure you haven't Italian origins? We're always full of doubts... but have also (usually) a great sense of humour

Italy are lucky and really shouldn't be there, France are even luckier (How the hell have they made the semis??). Portugal are bland and not a real threat so I still say Germany will win. They can score early, they are killers at penalties, they have home advantage and most importantly they are very underrated. Still they are not favorites..

.....errrr....ok..you sound very animated!

Lets just face it England were total rubbish ALL the way through, the whole World Cup.!! I'm not the least bit surprised they are now out (although they did keep us screaming at the tele for nearly 2 hours!!)
Owen Hargreaves deserves a medal for all his hard work from day one, Lampard was crap and as for that idiotic Rooney..well...there you go..wally.
Also, I don't see the point of taking an unknown 17 yr old with you, if he dosn't play at all, why wasn't he put on for the last 20 minutes, they were going to loose anyway, so it might not have made any difference, but at least he could have worn an English shirt.

ooo...I forgot to say, that watching some of the lesser known teams has been far more exciting, than what we saw yesterday. Japan and Sth Korea for us were fab. The best game for us so far...Mexico/Argentina!

None of our so-called "star" players performed. Lampard missing the first penalty just about summed up his World Cup.

I am fed up of us losing bloody penalty shoot outs!

I don't think England were rubbish. I don't think they played to their potential but they were not rubbish. You don't get to the quarters if you are rubbish. Argentina and Brazil went out too and they are not rubbish.

Owen Hargreaves was indeed "rubbish" so I'm not sure we were watching the same team. Frank Lampard was crap as well. Apart from those two I thought they were an OK team. Rooney was just acting his age. If he had some support up front it never would have happened. Walcott should have come on without a doubt at half time.

As for penalties, if four of your top penalty kickers are missing (Beckham, Rooney, Cole, Owen) then its not going to be very good really.

I thought they did pretty damn well with 10 men, as did Scolari, the Portugal coach. They still had chances to the end so I disagree with that comment. Oh its "lose" btw not "loose". Where are David and the spelling police!

I am now supporting France (which will undoubtedly mean they will start playing crap and will lose in a penalty shoot out!)

Playing with 10 men, yes, I agree MFM, they did do very well considering (they even had some great chances but failed to finish them ), but it shouldn't really have gotten to that point to be honest..Rooney is young and not mature (too much money and a crazy lifestyle too quickly, I fear) but he was a wally at the end of the day.
I think Theo should have gone on yes, absolutely, but surely Sven could have seen it was all going down the toilet with 20 mins to go (we could), and he'd have had nothing to lose with putting out this guy, he so strongly wanted to bring with the team.

...actually Gail, I hate to admit it but I too think the French might pull it off, they seem to have improved as the game goes on, wer'e not that bothered now, really who wins.Could be a German/ French final.

think I'll support Italy now, though I've a bad feeling Germany's going to win... sorry David, but as I'm Dutch I could never support Germany.
Why: 1974.

Italy dive and cheat too much.

Portugal beat England and they are too boring as well

France are just France and I have issues with the French.

Which leaves Germany. Now being English technically I should not support them. They are our arch enemies on the pitch (and off it too judging by history) but I like the way they are playing and they seem very much in control.

England won the World Cup when it was held in England in '66

Argentina won the World Cup when it was held in Argentina in '78

France won the World Cup when it was held in France in '98

So logically Germany will win it in Germany in '06
