). It gets their motors running, so to speak. They aren't out to harm one another. And because I'm familiar with both of them and they post a lot, I know that. Neither one of them has ever complained to me about the other. Now, if they did, that would certainly be another thing. But if we take a "one size fits all" approach and rules are rules, then look at all of the fun I would deprive them of. ![]() |

I realize this is late after the fact, but I have not had access to the internet, and I wanted to respond to these statements. Jason, apparently you didnt take the time to READ the material I posted from the Public Policy Institute regarding economic indicators. The fact that you keep harping on the number of people who cant play the stock market because of Enron/MCI's skullduggery shows ME that you have absolutely NO concept of the realities of life for anyone making less than 50K per year. As the graph and explanatory paragraphs pointed out, there are many things during a President's term that he cannot control. However there are many more that he DOES have control over and it is these policy decisions that affect the quality of life for the regular guy on the street. You go to a cafe in smalltown USA, you're going to hear about the lack of decent work, the lack of decent healthcare, the price of food/gas/childcare/insurance/mortgage payments etc. You are not usually going to hear a spirited discussion about the collapse of Enron/MCI and how the stock market is going to suffer. My whole premise regarding the state of the economy looked at everyday concerns. Yours looked at concerns of people with considerably more discretionary income. That is what I meant by you always looking at things from the TOP END. As my second supporting post pointed out, the collapse of Enron et al did NOT affect the economy to the degree you seem to think it did (if at ALL). Thats not to say that our economy isnt in trouble, merely that I think the cause has more to do with the current administrations PRIORITIES than it does with the exposure of corruption in our corporations. Btw, I would appreciate an explanation of this "phantom wealth" phenomenon you keep harping on. Please explain to me how the fact that a few thousand employees losing their savings/pensions created the money I used to buy my home. That should be interesting. I think I'll call it the "phantom theory". |
