And I really like Lindsey so I am sorry about the twenty dollar comment. I guess I just need to control myself and stop being so defensive of Stevie. ![]()

Let's elaborate on this then, even though this might turn into an embarrassing monologue.
In 1987 Fleetwood Mac still couldn't entirely rely on nostalgia. They may have adopted some of the regular nostalgia act habits already on the Mirage tour (not changing the setlist, playing only a few songs from the latest album and putting twice as many songs from their biggest selling album into the setlist) and were to adopt more of them on the TITN tour (such as not willing to develop the song arrangements in concert significantly anymore). But they still had to do an album that would sell and they did it with TITN. At that point it definitely didn't matter who was going to be on the tour, Lindsey Buckingham or Rick and Billy; the tour was going to be a guaranteed success anyway. Stevie Nicks' absence would have hurt the tour more, IMO, and the same case with Christine McVie, who once again had the lion's share of the hit singles from TITN. The thing with Behind The Mask eventually was that it was released in the aftermath of TITN, a huge success worldwide. It didn't really matter how well BTM would sell because also that tour was going to do well, in spite of the content of the album. So at that point we can safely say that FM had most of the nostalgia act functions inserted into them for good. At this point it doesn't matter what is the content of the album; the majority of the concert goers are still there for nostalgia. Repeated to the nth time. Quote:

Aside from that, what casual fan wants to go to an FM show without hearing You Make Loving Fun, Say You Love Me, Don't Stop (which is being played, but shouldn't be), Hold Me, etc.? |

I readily admit that I enjoy a good debate... it keeps things lively... but I can't see anything positive coming out of those particular types of threads. I can't lie and say that I'm not a bit biased towards certain members. I have my favorites, and there's no way around that (for anyone keeping score, it's Stevie first, followed by Lindsey, followed by Christine. Then Bob Welch & Peter Green, next Rick Vito, then Danny Kirwan, and so on), but I still prefer to think of them as "team-mates" rather than rivals, and it sucks that they're so often pitted against each other. Still, I didn't get a vibe from Jason's posts that he was somehow trying to bash Lindsey, or pit Lindsey and Stevie against each other in some sort of "who has the bigger toys" type argument. Your statement that that's what he was doing, seemed undeserved to me, and that's why I felt the need to comment. We're on the same side, Cour. ![]()

They are, after all, public records. I, of course, would never do such a thing. |

But I think the use of the word "flop" is a bit extreme when discussing a tour that grossed 8 million dollars, and inherently a statement like that is bound to cause people to disagree (and then, as so often happens, they're accused of being blind to reality). It's certainly not the highest-grossing tour Stevie has ever had, and it's definitely not in league with the kind of numbers Fleetwood Mac typically does... but a "flop" it's not. Maybe your idea of a "flop" and my idea of a "flop" are two different things. But I've certainly never considered anything that grossed millions of dollars, to have been a flop (and that includes 'Tusk'). ![]()
