Are we talking about iconic songs in general or what our personal favorites are? Because people here are confusing the two and they aren't the same.
Iconically I would say her songs are "Rhiannon", "Landslide" (which became iconic over the last 20 years basically), "Dreams", "Gold Dust Woman", "Gypsy", "Edge of Seventeen", and "Silver Springs" (thanks to the bravura performance of it on The Dance). Initially "Sara" was widely considered iconic but has since faded, and I think it's because it is so rarely performed live, whereas performing "Landslide" live non-stop has elevated that song to classic status. It's interesting to hear "Landslide" referred to as a "big Fleetwood Mac hit" by people in the media because it never was a big Fleetwood Mac hit....it's just that now it's such an icon song for her that people assume it was huge. "Stand Back" is a favorite and was a big hit, but it hasn't reached iconic level. I would say the same about "Leather And Lace" and "Talk To Me". |
