Default IYD - Rank the Songs

I know some posters will think this thread is premature, but many of us have listened to the songs many times by now. Obviously this is based on 1st (or 1st-day) impressions.

Here's my list, beginning with the best:

Moonlight
New Orleans
Italian Summer
Wide Sargasso Sea
For What It’s Worth
Secret Love
In Your Dreams
You May Be the One
Everybody Loves You
Ghosts Are Gone
Soldier’s Angel
Cheaper Than Free
Annabel Lee

Soldier's Angel
Wide Sargasso Sea
Everybody Loves You
You may be the one
In your dreams
Ghosts are Gone
Secret Love
Annabel Lee
New Orleans
Cheaper than Free.

For now...
But really, they are all fantastic, to the point that i feel bad for ranking Annabel Lee 11th...

That's really hard to do with an album like this. Every song is really good and it depends on my moods. Nothing seems to obvious.

Except for Everybody Loves You .

I can't really do this yet because I've not lived with the album for long enough. The only thing I do know is that it's incredibly consistent and I love it. That said, Cheaper Than Free is my least favourite and I don't see that changing at all.

For What It’s Worth, I agree that this is difficult to complete. Try it anyway; You May Be the One to get it right. And Stevie will put down her guitar & hand you a red rose. But if you don’t try, she may burn someone's house down.

Surprised to see Annabel Lee so far down on the lists. I really love the emotive-ness (a word?) of the chorus... "And the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams" ... I love her voice on that part.

I'm not nuts about the melody, but really it's the vocal that puts this at the bottom for me. It's not terrible compared to what we've heard on some songs on her other recent albums. But the other songs on this album just don't sound as strained/flat to me.

I really like it but it goes on a little too long, but that's just me. Her vocal is 10x better than on the demo

So far. Based on a few listens of each song via Rolling Stone;

1) Ghosts Are Gone.
2) Everybody Loves You
3) Moonlight
4) New Orleans
5)Annabell Lee
6) Soldier's Angel
7) In Your Dreams
8) For What It's Worth
9) Italian Summer
10) Wide Sargasso Sea
11) You May Be The One
12) Secret Love
13) Cheaper Than Free

This list was changing all the time whilst posting it. There's very little between them, although Secret Love and CTF are definitely the two weakest songs; but they're still really excellent songs. All in all, a fantastic album from Stevie. I can see my favourites changing all the time from this one

Firstly, I've on fully listened to the album twice and so this is most certainly subject to change ~

Secondly, it's really only based musically and on my initial connection to the songs as i haven't really had time to properly digest the lyrics; (When i do that's when this'll prob change)!

Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream)
Italian Summer
Wide Sargasso Sea
For What It’s Worth
New Orleans
You May Be the One
Annabel Lee
Ghosts Are Gone
In Your Dreams
Secret Love
Everybody Loves You
Soldier’s Angel
Cheaper Than Free

Overall a superb album, on par with Bella Donna (my personal fav.).
Not a bad song on it;
(Note: While Cheaper than Free is last I still think it's a nice closer in the context of the album; Soldiers Angel is second last because whilst I like Lindsey's guitar, the pounding drums and their harmonies together, I find it a little self-indulgent at points).

I don't get into Twilight at all.. But that Moonlight song is something special. Her vocals are like never I've heard so beautiful!

At this moment Top 5

1. Moonlight
2. Ghosts Are Gone
3. Wide Sargasso Sea
4. In Your Dreams
5. Italian Summer

For What It’s Worth
Italian Summer
You May Be the One
Wide Sargasso Sea
Ghosts Are Gone
Annabel Lee
In Your Dreams
Soldier’s Angel
Secret Love
Cheaper Than Free
Everybody Loves You
New Orleans

I can't rank them just yet. I need them to sink in a little more. Maybe by the end of next week I'll be able to.
