Sometimes people's ex lovers make the best of friends. I know my sisters ex and her are closer today than they ever were as teenagers and going out together all through high school. Funny how life does that to people. Viv whoever that new guy is in your sig, he's beautiful. I like him much better than some of those other guys you pick out from a lineup.

It is muggy and hot and already felt like 90 at 10 am here. Air conditioning saved Florida. Well, that and pesticide as they say.

And for the first time ever, I've beaten it. I had 3 White Castles, a couple of weeks ago, and that's only the 2nd fast food hamburger I've had, in 19 months.

So what's my option? Work out 5 days a week? FUKC THAT!!!! I'd 1000 times rather be hungry!

I told you about the great cholesterol numbers I've got now. My doctor even said, "David, I don't necessarily approve of the way you've lost the weight, but your numbers are great now. I don't even need to schedule another checkup for you, as long as you're staying where you are. Whatever you're doing, keep it up."
Yes. You've told us all 100 times. I'm still telling you it's unhealthy. That's my story & I'm sticking to it. Life's too short to be hungry all the time, starving yourself to look good. It's not healthy mentally OR physically. It's just not. No way around it. Oh - and not eating any fat? Will f*ck up your brain. Literally.

And what's wrong with working out 5 days a week? it's not dangerous or unhealthy.

I do jump on the scale every morning. Even though I'm 5'10, I don't want to weigh 200, ever again.
Twice in the past week, I've watched my friends chow down on pizza, while I sat there and watched. Do you know how HARD that is???
They at least admire my determination....
1) You're 5'10" & weigh in the 130's? That's even more concerning. My husband is the same height, weighs around 155 & is thin as a rail. You're in concentration camp territory, my friend.
2) There's a very fine line between determination & obsession/eating disorder. Determination is eating the pizza, but only 1 slice. I'm not diagnosing you, but you should be very, very careful. I'm serious.

I'm going to yell at you again - that will be way too low a weight.

F*ck everything. I'm really sick of it.
Less than 1200? Most likely too little. Your metabolism is slowing down to protect itself & that will keep weight on.

It sounds dumb, but you need to eat to lose. About 4 years ago I did Weight Watchers for like 6 months & only lost 6 pounds. A friend of mine worked with me to look at my points & activity & everything, and told me I actually wasn't eating enough - I was 2-3 points short each day (that's about 100 calories.) I increased my daily intake, varied it day to day (so I ate 22 points 1 day, 25 the next, 20 the next, 35 on a weekend for a treat, etc.) Increased my cardio from 30 min-45 min 4-5 days a week & voila - I lost the next 15 pounds in like 3 months. I actually got to 2 pounds BELOW my goal.

We've remained friends over the years. Not close friends... but every year or so we'll call each other and talk about what's been going on in our lives. I've had the same phone number for some time... I've not gotten a Texas # yet because the contract isn't up on my cell yet.

Well at least it looks like I'm not the only Ledgie obsessed with my weight. Paula, I was overweight for 20 years!!! Because I didn't give a fukc. I finally DO give a fukc! And it's not easy, especially since I don't care much for exercise(I'm not lazy, I work outdoors, constantly....but "scheduling" running[and I'm a good runner, I used to, all the time].....bleck. I'd.rather.be.hungry.).

And I do occasionally have that one slice of pizza. And usually fry one slice of bacon, for my salad. I mainly just try to eat good stuff now. NO(or very little) fast food, lots and lots of veggies, fish and chicken(not fried). And I try to use as little cooking oil and salt, as possible.

All I KNOW is, that fat guy will always be inside me, wanting out. Seriously. I wake up every day, and punch him in the nose, and say, "not today, fukcer". Yes, it's a lot of work. But I know that it's worth it, to me.

I'd rather be under weight than over weight. I was a fat child and I was miserable. I was a fat teenager and I was miserable. I don't want to be a fat adult and be just as miserable. I want to have control for once, rather than adding yet another reason for this invisible list people have of my flaws to taunt me with. I get **** on the street because I dress in bright "hippie" clothes, because I'm a redhead, because I'm not getting drunk and high on street corners, because I'm bettering myself by getting an education, because I respect people around me....I don't want to add fat to the list too.

Self-deprivation is not work. Working out is work. You are definitely not doing yourself any favors by starving yourself. As Paula points out, your body will struggle to maintain its fat stores if you try to starve it. Your metabolism will stay at a low level. You may be "skinny," but as far as I'm concerned I'd rather be a fit chubby person than a weak, out of shape skinny-fat. I'm not saying that you are the latter, but based on your statistics and regimen, it certainly paints that kind of a picture to me.

No, but it is tedious and boring. And I'm naturally very low-energy and slow-moving, besides. I'm starting to think that 75% of the U.S. population is on cocaine or some kind of amphetamine.

I'm curious...what would you consider an idea weight for someone who is 5'5" (5'4" and a half if you want to get technical about it)?

I've been holding steady at about 160 for a couple of years now - I think at 140, I'd still be kinda chubby. Not that I'm interested in being super-skinny, b/c I'm not. I would just really like to not have a double chin and love handles.

I think you sound fab, and it's good that you want to alter your weight for your own sense of self-confidence - you don't need to do it for anybody else.
People are miserable f*ckers and someone will always be giving you sh*t for something. As long as you're happy and at ease with the person you are, their opinions shouldn't count for anything. Easier said than done to ignore the hurtful thing that people say, I know, but just think about how many insecurities the people who taunt you have. Being yourself and not squeezing yourself into the narrow margins imposed by others will, in the long run, leave you a more fulfilled person than they may ever hope to be.

1) I'm starting to notice that, but most are talking about modifying their diet & working out.
2) I'm glad to hear you eat some actual food once in a while. The way you post, it seemed like you only eat lettuce & beer now.

Aw sweetie. I'm not saying you should be fat. I'm saying that 120-130 is NOT fat.

Preach it.

If you have that mindset, it will be. I'm not saying it's easy - it's not at first. You have to totally change your mindset & make it a normal part of your daily routine. After a few months it's not tedious & boring - it makes you feel great & you might even look forward to it.

Also, it has to be something you actually like doing. For some people it's running on a treadmill (yuck - not me). For others, it's riding the eliptical while watching the TV shows you DVR'd the night before For others it's hiking or swimming, or taking fitness classes. It's whatever you WANT to keep doing. Because it's forever. I know that If I want to keep eating whatever I want to eat, I have to exercise regularly & that's OK with me. But it wasn't at first - it was scary & daunting.

I've been holding steady at about 160 for a couple of years now - I think at 140, I'd still be kinda chubby. Not that I'm interested in being super-skinny, b/c I'm not. I would just really like to not have a double chin and love handles.
For a boy? You wouldn't be chubby @ 140. That's actually about right for a medium-framed man, give or take 5 pounds.

This was perfect. I really believe that any changes you make NEED to be for you. If you try to fit in with what other people want, you're going to hate yourself, and you'll still never get close to them. I thought the "you can't love anyone else until you love yourself" thing was bull my entire life, but this year, I honestly have started to really like and respect myself, and all of the sudden, I have a core group of friends who mean the world to me and like me for me. I've never felt better.

I've been accused of doing coke, so many times! I'm a very hyper person. I'm constantly moving. I don't even like sitting down, and prefer to stand, if I'm clubbing(even though my friends usually sit).
My friend, who is 16 years my junior, just marvels at the energy I have.

So, back to the diet sh*t, you guys have inspired me. Spring has sprung, and it's 72 right now. The park down the road has a track, and I'm going now, to get some exercise. I only plan on walking today, as my band plays tomorrow night, and I don't want to be having shin splints(if memory serves, anytime I start running, it always takes me a week or two, for the shin splints to go away). Maybe I'll start running, first of next week.
