Plus I saw an interview where she said i'm not a witch, but i'm not a black magic witch...mmmmh...idk i'm one of the few I guess. I get the impression she's hiding it imo.

Anyway....getting into the symbolism...of holding books...Sister of the Moon anyone?
I'm a Wiccan, as well. It seems that Stevie leans somewhat toward Wicca (but according to her, not 'witchcraft'.) If she does not want people to think she's a 'witch', why does she do things to perpetuate it?
I mean, Stevie is giving people 'dream bottles' and crescent moon necklaces. She's worn triangle/pyramid necklaces and talked about the importance of the number 3 (as in the 'triple goddess'). She's singing songs about 'dancing around in a circle'. She's writing about Sisters of the Moon (a great name for a coven, by the way!) She even does 2 songs for a movie about witches. So...if she's someone who didn't want people thinking she's a witch or Wiccan.....why do these things?!

EXACTLY! There is a difference between being a witch, and a wiccan, witchcraft is just witchcraft, Wicca is a nature based religion which has witchcraft in it in various rituals.

Btw -wave- Hi Holiday long time not talk!

Image ... but I personally think she mixes a lot of "religions" or spiritual philosophies together. Because, as I pointed out earlier why would she quote John 3:16. Same thing. I think she also has Buddhist leanings, for instance.

I am NOT naive about her and nothing would surprise me, barely just short of
considering the possibility of there being a whole string of ex-boyfriends' bodies
hidden in the desert someplace. But - - - Does anyone ever wonder if she made
the WHOLE thing up, in order to help people and guide them towards a "clean" life and spirituality?
Or to put it frankly - Is Stevie actually a Christian?

Before you answer, consider the following:

1.) The imagery she uses in her shows - for example, a dove flying through the air - clearly "borrowed" from Christianity and a very "pro-peace"image.
okay ...

Quote:
2.) I challenge you to do a thorough google search for images of her and NOT find a picture of her holding a book.
i searched through 25 pages of google image results. i found pictures of carrie fisher, jazzy, and lindsay lohan, but not one picture of stevie holding a book. of course i'm not sure what the significance of that would be.

Quote:
3.) She's CLEARLY heavily influenced by Charles Dickens, whose stories are based on his deep belief in Christianity and are extremely moral. Oscar Wilde is an admitted influence too - while certain churches may have their "differences" with him, his stories are, i.m.o., ultimately very moral.
charles dickens was a social critic and paid by the word. his wiki page includes the word "christianity" once, fwiw. stevie also cites joni as an influence, so ... ?

furthermore, christian =/= moral.

Quote:
4.) Think of all the LIVES she's saved - both from convincing people to get off of drugs, and saving people from committing suicide. I can't COUNT how many people in the discussion boards and in Nicksfix chat have told me that they literally would have killed themselves were it not for Stevie.
and christians are the only people who get bummed when other people die.

Quote:
5.) Has there ever - ONCE - been a video tape or film made of Stevie having a SERIOUS knock-down drag out with Lindsey which was not officially sold by Warner Brothers for marketing purposes? How many times has Lindsey heard a story Stevie has told of their fighting, gotten a shocked look on his face and said something like "...If she SAYS so!"
non sequitur.

Quote:
6.) How much has Stevie given to charity over the years? How many lives has the heart center she and her Dad built saved so far? She gave $10,000 to for tsunami relief the day after it happened.
i sent money to tsunami relief and support my local PBS station. i am not a christian.

Quote:
7.) How many of her songs COULD be interpreted - if one chooses - to be "pro-Christianity?" I never thought of this until now but - "Then suddenly there was no
one standing in the hallway" - I've always thought, frankly, that it's about losing your virginity, but, taken a certain way . . . Well, it's certainly a song that's in favor of life as opposed to death. And how many references to angels does she have in her songs?
"It's as close - to being - in HEAVEN!" An anti-adultery song. Would you call "The Highwayman" an "immoral" song? Or a song filled with optimism that although things are complex, there will always be a positive outcome if one sticks with one's beliefs?
a common theme in most religions and five-cent self help books. and even if "kind of woman" were an anti-adultery song, stevie is an adulterer. is that "christian"?

Quote:
8.) SO much partying in the rock scene in the 80s. WILD parties. With, frankly, some people who were extremely self-centered and money hungry. Where's the PHOTOS, people??? There's a grand total of *zero* of them, as everyone knows.
the 80's were hardly the age of omnipresent amateur paparazzi out to make a quick buck by selling a blurry photo to the tabloids. at any rate, i don't even know what you're trying to say here ... that the lack of pictures means she wasn't at the parties, or that the lack of pictures is somehow moral? either way ... nonsense.

Quote:
9.) Either way, she clearly loved her Dad SO much - - - with all that love, with all that support - with him THERE ON TOUR with her - - is there actually a real possibility that she DIDN'T "stay Amber"?
what?

Quote:
10.) How many fans and people who have worked with her consider Stevie to be a genuinely good, if imperfect, person? An honest one? A kind one? How many fans have said "she was so NICE to me" or "she was so HUMBLE!" ?
okay.

Quote:
11.) WHERE did Stevie and Lindsey meet, again???
i went to HS with plenty of kids who would party all weekend and then go to AA and YL during the week.

Because she's a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a shawl.

Or maybe Star Trek TNG repeats got boring after a while.

Have you ever considered becoming a Logic Professor?
Anyway like I indicated, I wasn't going for a perfectly logical post;
was just curious what people would have to say about it.

I think she believes in God. TISL: "You say, Dear God make it stop" and "We all believe in people that we think believe in God". She wouldn't write if she was an atheist.

It doesn't mean she's a Christian, per se. But, it obviously means something to her or she definitely wouldn't have used it as private as she is about her personal life and beliefs.
I totally agree with you!

If anything, I think that line is a bit cynical about religion. She seems to be saying "why do we automatically assume that someone who is religious is somehow above betrayal or deception?" In other words, piety does not equal morality.

Could be. Only she knows what she meant but that's the way it comes across to me.
