lol, I know how that feels!
At 15 years old, I put up with a lot of that crap - alot of the time being slyly and sneakily made fun of about my taste in music and Stevie.

Sure, I may not go to the parties, or have cool friends - but I dont let that get to me... because I have character. And I like my character.

That's such a wonderful attitude to take, and it's so refreshing to read that, rather than the "Waa, I'm so cool, I drink and get laid all the time" I see from people my age.

Most of those "cool" kids will go nowhere in life, and they'll have all the personality of a wet sponge. The "cool" kids at my school all pretty much have crappy jobs now and whinge how awful their life is on Facebook.

Hey, no problem I know how hard it can be to do that with family, and the crap you can get from other people over it. Like we're all supposed to somehow just put up with the ridiculous things family members can pull just because we all happened to win the gene lottery? That's crap. Toxic relationships are toxic relationships.

We though she meant it. Everyone of us thought she meant it and we all showed up. Well guess what else? There wasn't any room in the inn for us. Okay fine, I get that but geezzz the drama that followed. Yall got no idea. Just a big hot mess. Foolishness and mayham. I guess it doesn't sound like a big deal based on what all I've told you...but that's exactly why it was out of control- because it wasn't that big of deal.
Wooo I'm feeling better already. I'm sure that compared to some of the issues others have going on this is small. Like teeny tiny small.

Just thought I would share, cause sometimes the more you share the better you feel. muwahhhh.

Okay, time to get my Mac fix before I brave the ol' family.
I think everyone has family/relationship issues, haha. Perils of being human. And drama over dumb stuff is either the best or worst kind there is, depending. Like, it's the worst when you have to deal with it personally, but it's the best thing EVAR if it's got nothing to do with you and you can just observe it from afar.

Y'know, if you're like me and you have a doctorate in schadenfreude, I mean.

So a friend of mine hasn't spoken to me in months. I get a little miffed by this (maybe a wee bit of an understatement) and actually tell her that it is out of order. A cardinal sin apparently! I have now been dumped by my friend in such a business like fashion that it makes me believe that she didn't actually care one iota about said friendship. I can't decide whether I'm more hurt or pissed off at the moment. And when I do try and talk to my other friend about my feelings, when I have been helping her through alot over the last while, I'm told that I shouldn't be surprised and ought to just suck it up. In other words, I'm not allowed a shoulder, but I'm expected to hand them out freely. Yay for equality

I had a friend sorta like that. For the longest time, she was the most hated/bullied girl in the school, and I was the ONLY person who would speak to her for at least a year. Flashforward two years later, and we've both gone to different colleges, she pops up on MSN with this -

Her "You don't like me do you?"
Me "I haven't spoken to you since July"
Her "I'll take that as a no. Bye"

Basically, she was a friend who was all me-me-me. I've since realised that such people are very toxic and are not to be missed. You don't want a friend who only wants to talk about THEIR problems.

Anyhoo, I have a rant I JTIS. I've recently broken up with someone... again. I thought this time things would go well, but, when I realised I was going to have to act like his babysitter, and was constantly disappointed, I just broke it off. He was on about dropping out of Uni and going back to Ireland... when we haven't had a class yet. He wanted me to wait until February... I said no, I'm not gonna be tied down like that. I know that sounds selfish, and it probably is, but, I don't want a long distance relationship with the possibility of one weekend of sex until next September. When I could be out and meeting any sorts of people who I could have a real relationship with. Gah. I can't pick them at all.

Thanks, I took the pics today, but want to Photoshop my last name out of the engraving pic. I'll post a couple, later tonight, when I get home from work.

Artemis - the Happles in your sig pic make me squee. They remind me of a toy I had when I was very little...it was a red plastic apple with a similar smiley face on it, and when you pushed it, it rocked and made a jingling sound. My mom called it the Happy Appy.

I had that thing for a really long time - well past the time I actually wanted to play with it - because it was so cute. Sadly, I lost it somewhere along the way, and when my son was born, I looked EVERYWHERE for a Happy Appy for him, but could not find one.

Instead, I ended up with a similar version, except it had a Banana in Pajamas perched on top of it and no face. I liked that one even though it wasn't a Happy Appy, because I also liked Bananas in Pajamas and had a stuffed B1 that would sing the theme song that I got in like 8th grade (shut up, I like goofy things). Unfortunately, my son did not agree - he refused to touch the Banana Apple, so I put it away.

I later learned that he was absolutely TERRIFIED of Bananas in Pajamas, which might explain why he refused to touch the apple when he was a baby. I was digging around in the closet for something and happened upon that stuffed singing B1. My son was about 3 then, and thinking he'd like a Banana in Pajamas that sang to him, I presented it to him with a flourish, only to be met with hysterical screaming and a slow collapse into the fetal position on the floor, "OH NO! NO 'NANA! NOOOOOO! BAD 'NANA! OHHHHHH NOOOOOOO 'NANA NOOOOOO!"

I promptly renamed it Captain Howdy and put it back in the closet. Oops.

I think you had a right to get upset. I guess it probably won't help to hear that you are better off without her, but it's true. I wish your current friends were a little more understanding. I mean, maybe it's no surprise to them that she was like that, but they should still see that you feel hurt about it. You deserve better treatment!!

I know last night I cried alot about it. Because she was like a Sister to me. When she was around she was one of the best friends to have. But she changed, just like flicking off a light. I heard nothing for months from her, so I told her how I felt. And apparently in her Facebook message (How cold is that?) this constituted harassment. Apparently I'm the B with an itch for making her feel guilty about it. She wrote the message as though she were cleaning out her closet and getting rid of an old pair of shoes that had served their purpose and were preventing her from "moving forward". But today....**** her. That's my feeling on the matter. She doesn't deserve me. I'm a great friend if people give me a chance. And the few who do, realise that. If she can't see that I'm not a heartless robot, then I feel that it's her loss. Guess it helped getting all of the boo hoos I had for her out last night lol. I feel better today. The sun is shining, I have time to paint and there was a good episode of House MD on last night to ruminate over. Life is looking up

Bee..... I had three best friends during high school. Two out of the three did that to me, and for completely different reasons. One of them made it NASTY and did everything he could to ruin my life (no joke-- let's just say there was police involvement). I sympathize with your situation SO much and I know that, even if her actions were totally uncalled for, it's gonna hurt for a while. I'm still completely bitter with both of these people who royally screwed my over BUT I've surrounded myself with people who do something positive for my life and because of that, all is much better now.

On another note... I have been sick literally since the day I arrived in Seattle. I AM SO SICK OF TIHS. You have no idea.

This has been a rough few months for me, physically. My newest dilemma (to go with the shingles) is a sore throat. The kind that only hurts when you swallow. I feel like there is a razor blade in the back of my throat. Home remedies anyone?
