Recently I saw my therapist and I mentioned my obsession. I tried to tell her how bad it was... that sometimes I didn't go out with my friends because I want to watch Stevie videos, that I have spent many days at work not working so I could read concert reviews and watch videos from Unleashed, that I almost lost a dear friend over an arguement over Green Day's cover of Landside. IT IS NOT BETTER THAN STEVIE. The therapist just looked at me and said "What issss it about Stevie ? My husband loves her too...oh, you know what? I have a jacket that I want to give you, it looks like something Stevie would wear." Oh geez. I then proceed to spray Fracas for her to smell. All the same I suppose.

I took a lot of heat for loving FM when I was growing up. This was the early eighties and bands like Rush, Zepplin, and Sabbath still ruled the High Schools. FM was considered "pussy music." But I didn't care. I loved them and that's that. My family thought I was unhealthily obsessed, one of my brothers mocked me pretty bad when I started the pre-BN albums. But you know what? These days, that same brother has a drum kit in his house and listens to Mick's parts all the time, especially "GYOW" and "Black Magic Woman."
At any rate, I've never tried to qualify my love for the band and that's that. I might have stepped away from them from time to time (I recall losing interest in them from 1988-93) but I came back around again. |

Well I'm delighted that finally my 3 teenage boys enjoy singing & bopping away to F/Mac & Stevie's Enchanted B/Set whilst driving around town, though they do think it's weird that I stay up till 2 am on The Ledge & listen to mainly SN & F/Mac with my headphones. Come to think, they may have a point

Oh, are you a therapist? Just so happens I'm in the market for a new one. Do you accept fringed leather jackets as payment?

While that would be too awesome for words, I think we both know Lindsey is the one who wants it most...

It's my mother's fault that I got into FM. She's not a super huge fan like I am but she's pretty cool about it.
The summer that followed 9th grade went like this: Friday = out of school, Saturday = 3rd place in my piano recital, Sunday = STEVIE CONCERT W00t!! which was a result of me finding out that Stevie was having a concert and immediately calling my mother about getting me a ticket. The only downside was that I had to go with her It would have been nice to go to my first concert by myself. Before we moved to Virginia (from MI), I had Stevie's soundstage on our DVR, and when we moved I didn't have it anymore ..my mother called me one night into the living room because Soundstage was on pbs...so...I sat and watched it with her. Over the summer, when I went to Detroit for 3 months, my mother called me to tell me the thing Stevie said about Lindsey Lohan playing her in a movie lol. My mother was also the first person I called when I heard about the unleashed tour, and I got a ticket for that one too (and returned with a tote bag that I used for school for the rest of 10th grade) My sister tolerates FM and everything related to them. She will call me when she's on campus (she goes to MSU and works at the front desk thing...) and a FM song comes on so she can sing it to me, and intentionally mess up the words lol. I remember playing Oh Daddy one night when I was in my room and my mother freaked out because she had heard the song before (Natalie Cole's cover or something like that)...and she likes to play the Midnight Special Rhiannon (The one that started this whole thing for me) every once and I while. She will sing the songs and get the lyrics wrong too ![]() My dad was the reason I got every Mac CD ever created because he had it all on his computer. He's one of those people who will take every CD you own and put it on his computer before he gives it back. Edit: My friends- I don't really have alot who are into FM, but I had a friend in Berkley who loved her as much as I did. I have a few at my school who know that I love FM and they will talk to me about music ![]()
