Default Mirage #5 on list of album covers with subliminal images...

This is just odd.
Subliminal image hidden in Mirage album cover.
Follow the link. Mirage is number five on a list of album covers with subliminal images. There is an additional link to what he author believes he is seeing (which is ridiculous).

....what the HECK?!!

Ridiculous is right. I definitely see what this guy is talking about but I think that if it was intentional, they would have made it a more prevalent aspect of the image... especially considering the title of the album.

Hmmm.

This has been discussed on The Ledge a few times before. From what I recall many believe the "mirage" of the old woman is intentional and it certainly fits with the title. For what it's worth I see the old lady's face in the clasped hands myself. I don't think it's ridiculous at all but it could be unintentional.

I didn't think there was any doubt about this, with the album title and the old hag...who I always thought looked more like an old man...but I guess it's more of a hag. How should I know...it's two hands clasped!

Anyway...I think it's intentional. That was my point.

Or as Chris would say...it's a Miiiiiirage

I dont see it either. I am sure that you could come up with some **** like this looking at most album covers.

The link seems a bit sad to me.

Well, first you kind of have to forget that you know you are looking at two hands clasped. Then, turn your head to the left a little bit. Sometimes it helps to squint also.

Once it was pointed out to me a few years ago, I never had trouble seeing it. I think it's just a coincidence though. For it not to be, the photographer would had to have known that people holding hands in that position would have caused that optical illusion.

The Black Sabbath one is rubbish as well. First thing, any hardcore Sabbath fan will tell you it actually says "Kill Ozzy". However, the painter, Greg Hildebrant, painted that in 1976 after having a dream that inspired the image and the original painting is called 'Mob Dream'. In 1981 Black Sabbath commissioned the painting for their album 'Mob Rules'. Greg wouldn't have painted the name Ozzy on it anywhere and probably wouldn't have been thinking about Black Sabbath at all when he was painting it. It annoys me when people thing otherwise because it's so not true.

The old lady is very easy to see. She is basically looking in profile directly at Lindsey's shoulder. The back of his thumb forms her nose, Stevie's thumb forms the mouth and their combined fingers are the eyes with hair falling over them. Look again.

The "Mirage" of the "old lady" has been common knowledge for about 27 years now...

I've always assumed it was an intentional act....just as was the hidden penguin on The Dance cover.

An intended subliminal image, by nature, is not supposed to be prevalent!

I'm on the fence about whether this image was intended on the Mirage album; however I always thought the position of Lindsey's and Stevie's hands joining was rather peculiar.
