Default Stevie It's Raining Men

After listening to the Soundstage Sessions I began to realize how much I crave new Stevie music. If Stevie is listening she needs to get back in the studio with this these suggestions in mind. Stevie needs to bring the men back in her life. I loved TISL and listen to it all the time but it was "tame" IMO. A while back Stevie mentioned in some interview that she wanted to ask Sting to do a duet with her and she thought better of it. She talks about how she got on the phone to Prince for Stand Back yet thought better of calling Sting??? Come on Stevie, you are rock royalty!! Here is what Stevie needs to do. Get on the phone and call Sting and get on the horn and call Bruce (yeah the Boss) and Santana.

After listening to How Still My Love and it latin tinge and after thinking back over the years about how much I think Stevie and Santana would be a match made in Heaven, the time has come for her to make the call. A revamped Black Magic Woman or a new song would have the fans drooling. Stevie and Sting, Stevie and the Boss, Stevie and Petty (again), Stevie and Don (again) Stevie and Kenny (again) Stevie and Lindsey (again) and to kick some the guys butt...Stevie and Christine on a wicked wicked ballad!!!

I guarantee the cd would go platinum at least twice and I realize getting all the names mentioned above would be near impossible but I think most would jump at the chance!!

Thoughts?? Anyone else have some ideas for Stevie?

The reason why she chickened out calling Sting is she wanted him to sing backing vocals on Bombay Sapphires, which essentially carbon copied the guitar riff from Sting's Shape Of My Heart. If I were Stevie, I wouldn't have the cajones to call him either!

I LOVE that song too! John Waite rocks. Did you ever hear the version of "Missing You" with John and Alison Krauss. Sounds just beautiful. And I'm sure that Stevie could sing it so great because this song really fits perfect to her voice

I still think a Taylor Hicks/Stevie Nicks tour would be awesome.

Totally love "Missing You". I heard it yesterday at Zaxby's- I love it!!!!

I don't think the guitar part is a total copy. Music is a plagaristic artform- so stuff like that happens.

Well, Stevie isn't the first or last to have "borrowed" that riff. Off the top of my head, here are the artists whose songs I have heard which copied that riff (there are some I'm missing):

Red Hot Chili Peppers- Road Trippin
Emerson Hart (from Tonic)- Friend to a Stranger
Stevie Nicks- Bombay Sapphires
Kings of Convenience- Caymen Islands
Dominic Miller- Shape of My Heart
Dave Matthews- Typical Situation

My point being, what Stevie did was far from a crime. Many people have made BEAUTIFUL songs from that basic riff, which I believe Sting himself must have collected from classical Spanish guitar songs.

When you add Bring on the Night by the Police to that equation, she might be a little shy.

I totally forgot about that! She completely ripped off Sting 20 years prior to Bombay Sapphires for the biggest hit of her solo career, Edge of 17! No wonder girlfriend is scared of getting stung by Sting!

I am a big fan of both Sting and John Waite -- I would love to hear her do something with either of them! Maybe Jackson Browne, too?

I'm so glad several of you said that you like John Waite. I love The Babys, Bad English and all his solo stuff. I think he is really underrated.

Hi Jill! I've met him several times...he usually does meet & greets after his shows -- how cool is that, huh? I used to contribute my live photos to his fanclub site when it existed. He is such a nice man and is great to his fans. I totally remember watching the "Change" video...LOL! Do you listen to any Bad English stuff...I love their videos, too!
