She has no band with her. I suppose she could have gotten a new guitarist and done Landslide, but, that would require rehearsal time, etc. Any other song pretty much requires a full on band. So, I see why she is not singing.

Actually, MTV would have played it if there had been a hit - they always go to the money. There was no hit because the music was not to the public's liking. But, that is a sep. thing from a lacking of promotion. They promoted the hell out of SYW.

Interestingly, I wounder of FM payed for any of this promotion. I say this because La Nicks is heavily promoting the current and ongoing FM tour in this press junket. I tend to doubt they are, but, she could haved asked for it and been correct.

I don't think SYW was managements fault. It was Stevies and Fleetwood Macs. I think a lot of people didn't like TISL and it did not help SYW. The album didn't gain her many NEW fans. Fleetwood Mac didn't do a video for it either or try to market it to country stations that like Fleetwood Mac.

Rock has been dead since about 2000. These bands need away to stay in the publics mind, especially old bands. The Eagles have succeeded but Fleetwood Mac has not.

^^^

FM did an entire concert set for the AOL sessions and then released the songs SYW and Peacekeeper as videos

The problems were IMO, they sounded like crap live on several high profile public shows, like Leno and GMA (or was it Today?) .

I also disagree with you and think TISL was very well received and got her many new fans. i base this on my concert experiences, which were filled with new fans and the critics warm reception of TISL.

It got good reviews from critics, especially Rolling Stone becuase of The Dance. Rolling Stone only gave Bella Donna 3 stars in 1981 and gave TISL 3.5. You would have to be an idiot to think that TISL is anywhere near as good as Bella Donna. They did it because everyone realized her appeal and longevity and Sheryl Crow was on the album.

Her new fans were from the Dance. Because MTV played the hell out of the videos and it sold well. She did not have a hit off that album and many were disappointed. We all wanted her to pull a Tina Turner and she did not.

And, she had a No. 1 hit off of it in the dance world.

In the end, unless FM or La Nicks solo has a major hit, the records will sell about where they are and they will make their money from touring, which is well received for the most part. But, the vast majority want the hits from Mirage back. Such is life.

and only went Gold with all the hype and promotion. I can't tell you how many non-stevie fans said they didn't like it or her voice.

Haven't folks been saying they don't like her voice, all the way back to 1976? Is that really even a factor at this point?

The thing is, a gold album is nothing to sneeze at. Stevie is a middle-aged female singer with a strange voice -- and how many other female singers in her age-group have had gold albums over the past 10 years? Cher certainly. Maybe Bette Midler. But I can't think of any others.

I say Ditto million times,Others did crossed over.especially todays country sounds like lite rock anyway.Oh on my prediction is the top 20 to 30.she has to compete with the young ones on the charts.

I think I've started many threads on here about Stevie and Fleetwood Mac should give country music a shot.

I will fly to Nashville to the Grand Ole Opry to see Stevie or FM on the show.Any I probably would die on the spot if She was ask to sign on to the show.

I think Stevie's Grampa's dream would be fulfilled to see his grand daughter on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry on a saturday night.

Darius Rucker and Jewel was the latest acts on the show.

Stevie's song "After the glitter fades" was play on the country station in my listening area back in 1982 also Leather and Lace.

Pop to country crossovers,no order of faves.

1 The king Elvis Presley
2 Dan Seals of England Dan and John Ford Coley, R.I.P Dan 1948 to 2009
3 Exile group from the 70's 'kiss you all over "
4 Tom Jones a pop icon from the 60's in country in the 70's
5 Ray Charles
6 Jewel shes still cute
7 Darius Rucker of Hootie and the blowfish
8 Eagles as mentioned here
9 Bob Seager

Probably alot of others i cant think as of now.

For reasons I didn't understand, Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock got a lot of airplay on my country station with Picture.

Don't forget Jessica Simpson.

Its a long-standing cliche in the music business that once you've exhausted all possibilities and used up all your goodwill trying to make it in your own style of music, you can always "go country".
