Maybe she was a little stiff but its freakin opening night...give her some slack. Fleetwood Mac has more monitors and wires and cables on the stage then she does in her solo set. She normally enters and exits between the drummer and percussionst. She obviously needs to find another way towards the back and that would involve CAREFULLY moving around John and his stuff, Brett and his stuff, the other guitar players stuff...etc..etc..etc..She actually changed boots many times during the show. She started off with the burgundy ones...I thought she put the camel colored ones on for Rhiannon, then she changed into shorter boots, then she had the trademark black ones on. No she did not do massive twirls during Stand Back but vocally she sounded amazing and she looked amazing. She wasn't really chatty but her interaction with the audience towards the end was good. The top had for Go Your Own Way was awesome...and she was really into Silver Springs especially at the end. Everyone gets nervous for opening night and this is Fleetwood Mac...people have higher expectations for them. Mick ALWAYS walks her off stage...christ people are making it sound like she is an invalid. Go back and watch the Dance and Live in Boston...he always walks her offstage...that is his thing....anyways...just my two cents...nothing nasty.
AMEN Eric!! Nicely said and I agree 100%

You don;t see thread all over the ledge saying
"Mick was afwul on drums tonight"
"John really screwed up tonight ... i bet he was drunk"
and do you know why?
Is it becasue they are flawless, NO
They neither sing or are a girl.

All this over-expectation heaped on Stevie Nicks is ridiculous,

just thought i'd add that.

you know, I was thinking, "John doesn't really do much." I mean, he doesn't really do all that much. I love him. I think it's part of his charm, but really... Where is the thread for HIS retirement alternatives? I think the entire thing is bogus. They are doing what they do. If you want them to retire, quit going. Problem solved. As for me, and a huge lot of people who are excited the MAC is back? We will keep going until Stevie needs a walker and Mick needs 2 oxygen tanks, lol. Lindsey may never quit. We are gonna hear, years from now, that he has been kicked out of his retirement community for playing music too loud. I can't wait!

Pffft, your argument that ''she is a woman'' can also be applied to why she's the most successful of all four of them. That's why there's so much expectation, and it's not over expectation. If the likes of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, and not to mention her other 3 band members etc, are just as good now, if not better than when they first started, then why aren't fans allowed to expect the same from Stevie?

It's got nothing to do with her being a woman, so stop laying a stupid argument by playing the gender card

Also, Mick and John are flawless

But surely it depends on your point of view. Personally while I've enjoyed some of Petty's later stuff, nothing that Springsteen has done has come close to his earlier work. Oh and it would be fair to say that Bob Dylan hasn't really done anything close to his early work. Then again, its based on my opinion.

Sorry, I was talking more about their live performances.

Mosttimes people are soooo critical. So what is she fidgets with her headset...maybe mama doesn't like the sound of her own voice right now...I've noticed she reaches for headset in these cases of 'emergency'...I rather wish she didn't do that but I guess for her own 'sauve qui peut' she'd rather bumble with soundtech than croak a note.

I have always enjoyed Stevie's performances...she has never failed to make my heart beat faster, goose my bumps and her variant voice has always risen gloriously to the heavens. As for the twirls, I like when she catches those expecting off guard with her slow seductive moves...visually more erotic IMO.

Default I personally...

wish someone would delete this entire thread. For a fan to call for Stevie's retirement because of their alleged disappointment with her performance is just ludicrous. I would like to call for the retirement of a lot of people here on The Ledge but I know that is neither my place or my call. However, I can stop reading certain others' posts....so that is what I will do instead. I still believe that you draw more flies with sugar than with vinegar so I will just ignore all the vinegar here.

Flawless & beautiful, inside & out.

(Although I don't like the way Mick -- possibly inadvertently -- speeds the tempo of "Silver Springs" toward the end. One of the backup band said years ago that Mick was having "tempo" issues.)

I don't want Stevie to retire but from the sounds of it, the tour doesn't seem to be inspiring any of them. I really think if she worked on some new material it would give her back her spark. Different arrangements would help too: it must be hard to connect with the original feeling behind a song singing it the same way for the millionth time.
