Default DVD Rippers

Hey everyone,

I was wondering how you all go about ripping DVD's. Any programs you can recommend? (Free ones, preferably)

I use mactheripper to rip it and Toast to burn to DVD. I use a Mac though so that doesn't really help you much. get on versiontracker.com and see what you can find.

Exclamation

DVD Decrypter (free ripper, not updated anymore but still works fine for me) here:

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

...and DVD43 (also a free tool, which gets around copy protection) here:

http://www.dvd43.com/

Can't think of any free VOB to MPEG encoders but I use VideoReDo for editing and that also converts VOB to MPEG and was worth the 40 dollars for me:

http://www.videoredo.com

I use ULead DMF3 for burning only because it was the only burning software I could find that would accept the low screen resolution that I have to use due to my ancient monitor but I've had no problems with it.

Hope this helps.

John

I bought a Mac labtop today!!!! It was tax free weekend here so I saved about $500 between being a college student and having it be tax free weekend.

For copying whole disks, I wholeheartedly second this!

My ripper of choice is the AOA Ripper; not freeware but free to try. Great for extracting single chapters or clips from a movie.

This might sound stupid, but to burn DVDs do you actually have to have a DVD 'burner' or is it just the certain software?

yeah, your CD/DVD drive has to be able to burn DVDs. most drives these days play CDs and DVDs and most burn CDs, but you will need to check to see if your drive also burns DVDs.

I would die without my burner. I totally overwork it. I will never buy a computer without reader and writer drives.
