It's cool, I use the same defense when people get on me about liking Jason Mraz. I know there's a bunch of guys out there that are doing the same thing, but there's something about him. I can't explain it, but I love it. So go on with your Mika love. We won't judge you. To your face.

What did you think of the Decemberists by the way?
The album "Life in Cartoon Motion" is our album of the week this week, so I have had to play it about 3 times a day, so I have heard it enough times to give a fair review

I love nthe Decemberists. I ordered the album in for the store based on the tracks you sent me

Interesting. So did you dislike it upon first hearing, or have you just grown very sick of it? Or do you basically just think it and he sucks?

I'm glad you liked the Decemberists! If you like Crane Wife I highly recomend picking up Picaresque...it's their previous album and I love it. It's great...now there's a band that is truly different

Ah...well perhaps me and your mom would get along I'm still curious based upon what I've heard - and I love the artwork on his site, which I'm asuming is also on the album?

The only chart album by a new artist I've bought in ages. It's such a catchy album from start to finish. Love it. Very cheery. Grace Kelly grabbed me when I heard. It's definitely ear catching. I knew the first time that I heard it that it would be a love or hate song though. I thought I'd get sick of it eventually but I haven't yet. Also, every song on the album could be the best IMO, except perhaps Billy Brown which is equally good and catchy but perhaps a bit to silly/flipant lyrically for me to take totally seriously.

Also, the "every guy and his guitar thing"... I don't hear that at all. For a starters, he's a pianist. Every song I listen to on the album just scream "not written by a guitar player, written by a pianist". There's something about the structure of the songs that says that to me. Also, there's really not all that much guitar on the album.

So, we've had him here for quite a while, is he just getting over to the US now?

ECK! I dislike him on an unhealthy level. That song is atrocious. Mika needs too take a long way off a short pier.

I don't hear that at all either, to me he sounds nothing like all the other "guys and their guitars' on the scene today But I can totally see where this is a love it or hate it situation.

And I think he's only hitting the U-S now, I only heard Grace Kelly recently on the radio, they said it and he was new - and his album has yet to be released over here...I think it's coming out at the end of the month.

He played at one of our most important musical events, Sanremo festival and was really good:

Cool. Well I think it's a really good album and would recommend it to those who don't hate Grace Kelly. For those who don't like Grace Kelly it's unlikely anything on the album will covert you, but you never know since it's not all like Grace Kelly.
