Have to be real here. With the recent deaths of rock legends Glenn Frey and David Bowie, I would think they want to get in the studio and finish this (likely final) FM album. So tired of tours at this point.

Agreed, they can make a final statement and shake their money makers..

well sure, a FM show without any one of them would always be a bigger draw than any one of them solo these days.

But solo, Stevie would draw a bigger crowd than Christine. Not saying that's fair, but it's true.

And being such a big draw solo for so many years has given Stevie leverage within the band. The 'band politics" Lindsey always refers to.

An album without Stevie will not sell the same as an album with Stevie. Again, rightly or wrongly.

She still gets the biggest cut. She still gets to make demands and hold the band hostage if she wants. Hence they are holding off on an album because of her, even with Christine back. If Lindsey and/or Christine or Mick and John were the "boss" as the OP said, the album would be happening and they'd be able to force Stevie's hand to do it now.

I think her priorities are backwards, but maybe others disagree. Tours are nice, and they sure line your pockets, but they evaporate. If you're concerned about your musical/artistic legacy, an album does more for that as a lasting artifact for decades to come than a tour which evaporates in thin air. (yes you can video it, but really, who needs more video of the Mac doing the same old songs?)

I have to disagree. She can only do what they let her do. They are choosing not to force her hand.

On the other hand, I agree with you about the tours. If they want to make the most of their time, they should focus on recording. New albums can be made in a few months, while a tour takes a year and a half. I wish they would finish the album this spring, promote it with a few high-profile TV spots, and maybe a one-off concert for pay TV, and then go off and do solo stuff for a while.

Well I agree the album can be made quickly and probably will be but the tour probably be one of the biggest cash grab ,farewell tour considering everyone around them is passing away they know their time is limited ,it's going to be expensive.

I was listening to the classic vinyl station on satellite radio and Don't Stop came on and after the song the Dj said that Mick was in Australian with his blues band and the rest of Fleetwood Mac was working on their new album.

But why do these people care about album sales any longer? The odds are the album is not going to sell even if it has Stevie and Peter Green on it. So, just put it out there and then tour to get money. The album isn't going to make them money.

I agree 100 percent Michele.Touring is the cash cow.Why bother with albums that dont sell this day of age Only us handful of fans will buy 4 copies of it and probably wont hear a peep of radio airplay from it.To clear myself on anybody thinks that I dont want them to record.I say NO.I want a freaking bloody album too.

SYW was the last great outing for them for now.

For whatever my two cents are worth... I think they are crafting like FM only knows how to do... Slowly. These are the people that have a rather short, given the years, however substantive album catelog. I really don't think they are going to hastly put something together. Regardless of SN amd LB's working relationship, she knows the magic he does to her songs - that FM thang. It just might be very important to them to put out "a cherry on the sundae" kinda album, regardless of album sales. Lindsey might agrue that point. It's about legency at this point. If it takes a little bit time, so be it. And stretching out the costs, is less painfull.

Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if we got a "making of" kinda doc also. The editing of that will take some time. The album "package" will take time. I just don't see them going out small. And big, takes time...

I'm not sure they do. I was just making the point about Stevie as a draw.

I hope they aren't focusing on album sales, coz by now they should know better.

Touring behind a new album of new music which adds to your legacy in a more lasting way is really the only way to tour again, IMHO. Who needs another golden oldies tour. But I suspect that's what we'll get.

Maybe Stevie thinks her artistic legacy will come from one more solo album. And FM is her financial legacy.

well, ok, fair enough.. they let her get away with it so she gets away with it.

But who knows how the contracts are written? Who knows who has to agree to what before things can be done? Knowing Stevie's team I'm sure there's all sorts of stuff in there.

What scares me is how she was always going on about the whole "we have to go away for 3 years and do other stuff and then come back again"....I hope the hell she's not trying to work that angle this time. Who knows who'll be around still in 3 years.

I don't think that's necessarily true. A solo Christine show would have the novelty element to attract a crowd. People would be interested because there have been no Chris solo shows in over 30 years.

Look at how many people went to see FM last year just because Chris had rejoined. I think she's a bigger draw than a lot of Stevie fans like to admit.

It's very hard for some people to swallow that Christine gave the band it's breath of fresh air and brought so many fans back. I think 2013 would have been the last tour if she had not come back. The numbers were good, but with Christine they went through the stratosphere.

Stevie always the bread winner next to Lindsey coming in at second for this band.Chris as of now renew the FM experience for the younger generations to enjoy the band like us old fans did in the 1970's.Also Chris gave the Mac a major boost in tix sales with her coming back to the band.I wonder what would happen if the B&N combo have not jump on the FM train in 1975.Where FM would be today .

B/N would be waiting tables and FMac would be selling insurance or investments...
