"The Chain" [Live] - Rumours Deluxe Version

I have been listening to the live album that was a part of the Rumours re-release a few years back. Although I have a few squibbles about the track listing (there are a few key live songs from that era that I would have added), I can't help but be in sonic awe of the version of "The Chain" included on the disc. I have always thought that the version on The Dance was the best live performance captured on official audio, however I do believe the 1977 out performs the '97 version. The '77 version is so raw and 'gritty', not polished in any way. I also wish that they would go back to this ending of the song in their current rendition rather than the abrupt "keep us together" conclusion; listening to the band jam out at the end on the '77 track is insane!

Hi Andy, I have to totally agree, just a Barn Burner of a version, fantastic!
I would have loved to hear more officially released tracks from this tour. I love the sound of Lindsey's guitar at the end.

Definitely agree. All their live performances sound the best, in my ears, between 1977 and 1982.

I put that live album in my car on heavy rotation for a few weeks. It was a very heavy trip. I was young again!
