Well it's nice that a Mac DVD is being released, but honestly, the Tango video? Cheese. Mirage or Tusk Videos would be better choices...but who am I to say?

Is this going to be a US release too? I wonder why they chose this concert, strange... I have never seen it though, without Lindsey I haven't had the desire to see it, but I would. This is the concert without Lindsey, right?

My boss said he heard on the radio here in CT that they were releasing the Tango concert on DVD, since he knows I am a die-hard Macster he always fills me in when he hears something. So I am pretty sure the states will also see its release. Some great Christine performances on it.

That's what I'll be hanging out for! Sounds cool

We've had this discussion here before. I think the reason the Tango video is being released on DVD is because Warners own the rights to the video. It probably would be a lot harder to get the rights to the Mirage video, not sure about who owns the rights to the Tusk video.

I'm sure it will be released here in the U.S., too. I had heard about an October 14th release date here in the states. I think the Tango video is just fine without Lindsey. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Yeah, macfan57 is right, Oct. 14 is the US release date (as of now, hopefully this one won't change either) and apparently HBO owns the rights to the Mirage show (and not Warners) so I'm guessing that's why we haven't seen a Mirage DVD stateside yet.

As the Tusk doc was on Warner Home Video, I assume WB own the rights to that so I'm hoping that if they like the sales figures on the TITN one then hopefully they'd put out the Tusk doc on DVD as well.

Someone made a good point on another Mac board about this recently in that due to the Led Zeppelin DVD selling by the truck load, this seems to be the reason some of the DVD firms are FINALLY waking up to the fact that music DVD's will sell for them and if it's ones like these that they already own the rights to then it's cheap and easy for them to put them out on DVD (therefore, not MAJOR sales but with little overhead, they'll get more money out of it them they must have originally thought they would). I just hope this is true about it finally getting through to these companies about how they should put out more Music DVD's.

It does seem strange though that they wouldn't have started their releasing of old music video titles on DVD with the Tusk doc though (as that is the lineup that would get them the most sales etc.) but whatever, I won't complain about getting this one I just hope that they didn't feel they had to release TITN instead due to some legal problems (or whatever) as to why they couldn't/can't release the Tusk doc as I'd like to give them enough credit to think that the releasing of the Tusk doc was their first choice over this (from their $ interests etc.) but anyways, we can hope that there is no problem in this regard and that they can (and would) release the Tusk doc on DVD soon too.

From the vague packaging details of this TITN DVD, it looks like they're trying to get people to think LB is on it to get more sales but again, I guess we'll just have to agree with them that if they get the sales they want out of this then hopefully they'll dig out the Tusk doc and release that on DVD soon as well.

This would have been an excellent opportunity to add some tracks, but it looks like they're merely releasing what was already available on VHS. For instance, didn't Billy and Rick play things like Loved Another Woman? Adding that kind of thing would be cool.

Otherwise, it's really just a Lindsey-less show with songs on which his absence is rather conspicuous.

And the reshots of Stevie on TITN are even more annoying than her Red Rocks video. But, of course, I'll buy the DVD, they've got me!

I agree, the Stevie reshots are so obvious and annoying. Equally annoying is the sound of her voice during this period. I'm at a loss for words on how to describe the sound...flat and restricted?...but it isn't her most pleasant voice. To make matters worse, her voice is altered through a some kind of filter...making her sound all the more alien.

Plus, even though this was from the Tango In The Night tour, it feels a little dubious to refer to this as the Tango DVD, when in fact, it only contains 4 tracks associated with the actual studio album.

They also did Don't Let Me Down Again which would be a nice bonus but I'm sure we're just going to get the stock footage.

The Tango video makes me gag. Christine is the only bright spot. But I'll buy it anyway...

HBO owns the rights to the Mirage concert, but Sony (Columbia Tristar) owns the distribution rights. With the way Sony does DVDs with their old movies, it doesn't look like we'll ever see it released again.

Yeah, "I loved another woman" is on this show anyways (though billed as "Another woman") done with Rick on lead so this will be on there assuming it's just a straight repackage of the VHS which I'm sure it will be. I do agree with many here though that have said it would've been great if they could've provided some extras but I can't say I'm surprised that they're not.

Yeah I find Sony/Columbia/Tristar DVD movies way overpriced too. Thanks for the heads up on the S/C/T angle of this though. Whoever it is that owns it, it doesn't look good for a US release if that Brazilian version had to come out via the back door.

Yes it is. Treat this as you would chemical waste. If you're going to mess with it, be prepared for the worst.

Stevie's voice is at it's sheepish worst here. The way she goes "Aaaaaaahhhhh" at the end of the choruses on The Chain make her sound like she's 80.

Vito and Burnette are just also-rans (ironically, the versions of I Loved Another Woman and Oh Well are rare highlights).

The reshots are horrendous.

And I don't know what Christine is wearing, but it looks like she lost a fight with a jar of glitter.

Time magazine named them one of the Top Innovators of Music, and their latest CD, "This Side", won a Grammy for best contemporary folk album!

That's who!
